WPG
?Connor Hellebuyck (23-8-3, 2.17 GAA, .925 Sv%) will likely start for the Jets
?Josh Morrissey, who left Wednesday's game with a lower body injury after blocking a shot, was at practice with Winnipeg on Friday and seems fine to play
?Winnipeg also had Vilardi and Scheifele practice with the team. Scheifele has been declared out but Vilardi will be a game time decision

TOR
?Ilya Samsonov (7-3-6, 3.45 GAA, .875 Sv%) will start for the Leafs
?The Leafs have a question mark with their line-up after Jarnkrok left practice on Friday because of a blocked shot that seemed to sting his hand. If he's unavailable that may open the door for Winnipeg-native Ryan Reaves to get back into the line-up, otherwise the Leafs could use 7 defencemen

Keefe needs to be fired for this.  Reaves has absolutely zero business being in the lineup.

Unless I'm missing something with McMann and Jarnkrok now out, they have 12 forwards with Reaves in the lineup. 11 if Bert is still out. Not much choice here and he was getting at least a game or two at some point.

Jarnkrok could have gone to IR to allow a Marlie to get called up (it was rather obvious he was missing a game even yesterday so there was time to make a call-up). They also could have gone with a 11/7 roster. So the team wasn't exactly forced into playing him.

With that said I'm not sure Treliving firing him makes sense for this when it's Treliving himself that won't waive Reaves at this point.

Playing Reaves before waiving him to avoid the grievance from the NHLPA. Smart.

There's a chance this is a bit of a send off game before waiving him after the break, with this being in his home town and all. That might be some delusional optimism though.

I'm being a little tongue in cheek with it but I am definitely not happy about this.  Playing 11/6 would be better than playing Reaves IMO.  Playing 11/7 when a guy like Lagesson can't even get in the lineup makes sense too

Being back to a completely unplayable 4th line that needs offensive zone starts to avoid its terrible anchor player...while playing a good team to boot.  It's just baffling.

I'm not sure why Reaves needs a send-off game.  He got a bloated contract to play terrible hockey.  His send off was not getting scratched 5 games into the season like Robertson, Holmberg, etc

Knies doesn't deserve to be top line at this point.  If he were a vet player his lack of production would be drawing all kinds of criticism.

Holmberg.

I'd still like to see Robertson get a serious chance there. Holmberg plays a simpler game than Knies, right now it looks like Knies is trying to do too much.

Reaves...last game as a Leaf?

Knies was, probably predictably given what he flashed last spring and the market he landed in, over-hyped.  Leapfrogging the minors to go from college to the NHL is a big ask for everyone except for a very few.

We all want him to be the next Cam Neely and maybe he will become something like that, but it'll take some time.
