Idiocracy 2024

It's the right move...that should have happened a year ago.  The Democrats shooting themselves in the foot and gut over and over again.  They better have a phenomenal game plan moving forward that isn't Kamala Harris who has done very little in her time as VP

Not to mention the unfortunate reality that a woman and non-white Presidential candidate probably isn't the best idea today given the nonsense they are running against.  Obama winning back to back elections pushed the racist crowd into this frenzy.  I have a hard time seeing her pull off a victory over Trump right now.

It should've been done on age alone, but I still wonder if Biden had the best shot as of last year. You really didn't hear that many calls for him to not run for re-election until the bad debate vs. Trump.

Anyway, regardless, I didn't see then and I don't see now a candidate that can really beat Trump. Kamala has no chance, and probably most women if we're being honest about the state of politics in America. But any candidate from any strongly democratic state is also probably toast (looking at Gavin Newsom). It's hard to envision a best course of action, both then and now...

I do have to hand it to them though, this is the right call. Few times in history has a first termer dropped out like this.

Biden dropping out of the re-election after the RNC shot their wad (and advertising $) at attacking specifically him, for a lot of things that could probably be pointed right back at the Republican nominee (ageism), probably works out in the Democrats' favour. And basically no one is talking about the assassination attempt anymore, other than to wonder why it was handled so suspiciously poorly.

The problem with Harris is she carries some of the baggage of the Biden presidency being the VP, so Trump will just try and stick whatever Joe did onto her (minus the "sleepy" and being old part), although it's hilarious to me that America was great 2016-2020 then crap immediately after he lost, then will be great after 2024 and that nothing he put in place reverberated down the line, but I digress.

I think rightly or wrongly it depends on how deft she is at deflecting his attacks, so we'll see. She definitely has age and freshness on her side for now.

Trump remains a candidate with a high floor of support and a very, very low ceiling.  His supreme court?s abortion decision has led to democrats winning just about every contested election since then. Women and the men who love them don?t want their lives endangered when they want to have children. No one wants Trump?s Project 2025 (a handmaid?s tale in the making). The danger for the democrats was apathy, despair and low voter turnout. The reality-TV-like nature of switching up nominees is already generating enormous excitement as evidenced by $50+ million in donations on Sunday alone. Democrats have renewed hope that will lead to a surge in support. Trump will be terrified to debate her because everyone will now focus on how incoherent and senile he sounds next to a competent, level-headed speaker.

The democrats are going to win this election.

You are exactly correct, is they go with Kamala then its going to be a Trump landslide. I think if they could get Clooney to run they may have a chance. Gavin would turn the country into a mess like California has become.

No such thing as a perfect candidate, but she is growing on me (for a cop, no less)

California is paradise dude, I've traveled all over the world and it's by far the best place to live if you have the means. To be clear, I'm not American and don't have much love for the country.

Is there a homeless problem? Sure, and it needs to be addressed, but it's the 5th largest economy on earth, there are homeless everywhere in big population centres.

The climate is near perfect year round, you have every type of food you could desire. The ocean on one side, mountains on the other.

Right wing media would have you believe it's a failed state, the reality on the ground is far different. Don't listen to people who don't want to pay taxes lie to you about reasons why they don't want to stay in California.

Secret Service director has resigned after the grilling she received (and the lack of substantial answers) for the investigation of the assassination attempt.

I was just in California, gas was over $6 a gallon, I drove across a bridge into AZ and filled up at $3.50
I agree that it is a beautiful place and I have spent a lot of time there. However there is a mass exodus of individuals and business's, this is the reality. Musk just moved all his business from Cali to Texas.
Sort of what is going on in the UK now that Labour has taken over, the rich are moving out.

Good riddance Genocide Joe.

You do remember who his opponent is, right?

I do not give a singular f*ck.

He's a genocidal geriatric piece of excrement who has been a pox on American politics for 50 years.

Any coherent adult will beat Trump.

It's just comical to me to give Biden that title and not Trump who would give Netanyahu absolute carte blanche to do anything he wanted.

It doesn?t really matter who is in the Whitehouse, Bibi is going to do whatever he wants. That?s who he is. The difference is that Trump would get involved in a way that would have conflict escalate throughout the region in a much more significant way than it has.

I think they'll be fine, the departures are overwhelmingly due to tax avoidance, good riddance.

As for the gas prices, I hear you, but if you have the means, it's manageable.

My son is in a public school, the supports he recieves due to a medical diagnosis would cost us six figures a year privately, we don't pay a penny out of pocket.

California isn't perfect, but it's 100x better than Texas(I spent 5 years there) the place most of these tax avoiding scum bags are headed.
