I'm hoping Rempe "accidentally" throws an arm up on Bennett. Two years in a row that turd has taken someone out with an "accidental" arm to the head (or punch to the face in Marchand's case and actually in Knies case as well).

This is going to be fun watching the goons try and injure each other. Hopefully this is a good series. I am cheering for the Rangers but I am picking Florida in 6.

Pretty thorough by the Panthers tonight.

Dubas had the right idea about offense being a good defense, but the methodology of creating good offensive puck time is done a bit differently by Maurice. Relentless forecheck pressure vs perimeter puck probes; the former is just a matter of consistent effort and hard on the defending team, while the latter is quite mentally taxing for the puck possession team and easy for the defending team to disrupt and counter.

It's the old Jake Gardiner kryptonite. Pressure the puck carriers to make quick decisions, get the other team off their game, grind them down. Make them second guess every play they make. It's about time we don't write off counter punching as a very viable strategy.

As well credit where it's due, Bob did make some great saves too.

How do you beat fasstholes? Managing your breakout routes? flip and chase after their 2 forecheckers get deep?

Rangers continue to be gold in OT so far in the playoffs, two straight OT wins and they have the lead. Unbeaten so far in OT.

I don?t normally watch after the Leafs are eliminated in the playoffs, but I?m watching these semis and the Leafs were sooo far off from contending like this.

The Leafs tended to raise their game against the good teams and then lower their game against some of the weaker teams. Maybe that helped to create the mirage that they were better than they were.

I thought the 2022-23 Leafs were a better team than this year's team. Florida handled them pretty easily in the playoffs.

The game this season that hammered it home for me was when the Avs visited Toronto. As times, the Avs were playing the game at a level I'd never seen the Leafs touch. Along with the final four this year, the Avs and Canucks if healthy seemed to be contenders to me. I never had the Leafs at that level so the playoffs went pretty much as expected. I should be used to it by now but was a little surprised at how bummed out the fans were as I thought it was to be expected.

The last 3 games against Boston, the Leafs looked like they might be closer to being a contender than they looked most of the year.  Not quite there, but not super far off. Other than that, they definitely looked more like also-rans than anything rise.

They weren't true contenders but a round isn't a lot to ask for. Boston isn't a good team, and they went out in the Leafiest way possible against them. The anger is understandable.

Boston was higher in the standings, favored and had home ice.
Matthews and Nylander both hurt as McMann missed the series and Woll went down
Boston goalie was considerably better than Samsonov
Yet the Leafs took it to game 7 OT

It was virtually certain to end before the Cup finals.
The direction was set last summer when they failed to recover what they lost from the roster.
The only real uncertainty was how soon they would lose.

I was disappointed wanting the best for my team.
But I can't get angry over that.

Not to belabour the point, but the 4 semi finalists' don't really have any pure perimeter playmakers on their roster. Panarin is maybe the closest, but he's got a real shot (similar to powerplay merchant Nikita Kucherov). Connor McDavid is primarily a distributor but he also carries extremely well and takes the puck to the net when he's not shooting. Dallas has a lot of players sharing the puck in and around the net, usually off the rush. Florida rushes pucks up with numbers and tic-tacs it around the zone fast, barely handling the puck.

Leafs have Marner AND Domi. Domi actually has a wicked shot, but he also has brain rocks about it and I guess grew up watching Jason Blake's shot selection thinking, yeah, I'll do that. Marner has a decent shot when he gets open looks (compared to everyone else outside of the Core 4, because I know those other dudes will hit the goalie's crest), but he's not quite fast enough on the release to beat goalies clean himself and tends to hold the puck until the DZ slot is packed.
