I mean Rielly was only 2 points ahead of Zaitsev in +/- this season and I doubt Cherry would ever call him out like that.

While I think Andersen is obviously quite good he sometimes has a tendency, I think, to sometimes want to advance the play quickly at the expense of making safe plays. That goal seemed like one of those instances.
