Armchair GM Thread 2026/27

Wonder what the cost would be? He's quite young and had a pretty good season a few years ago. His faceoff % is god-awful though; is there a chance he's not a centre in the long term? If so, then he's not of huge interest imo.

1 for 1.....hmmmm

Wright winning 40% of his faceoffs is an issue. Wright being prone to defensive lapses is an issue. What I did like about Wright's season is his expected performance was there. He's adapting his game to get to the net more and getting scoring chances from better spots. I do think he's a guy who goes to another team that maybe has better top 6 talent than Seattle and blossoms.

I'm not sure that Shane Wright in 2026 makes the Leafs a better than with Cowan....but they are only 1.5 years apart and I don't think that's a terrible trade if it went down.

His poor faceoffs concerned me too.
I wouldn't be outraged
But with the market the way it is, whoever gets him will have to overpay and that part concerns me

Wright has a higher ceiling I think, especially as a centre, but more bust potential. Cowan is a safer bet to be a consistent middle-6 forward. It'd be an interesting trade.

His faceoff issues could be offset, at least for the next couple years, by having Tavares on his wing.
