2024-25 NHL Thread

I think Dubas wasn't so concerned about ownership. It was more to do with Shanny.
I also think the Pitt retool/rebuild will start when Crosby says so. Ownership will do whatever he wants and so will Dubas.
Dubas didn't have to sign Crosby though. To me this was 100% ownership not wanting to rebuild.

I think they definitely deferred the decision to Crosby, which isn't exactly the smartest thing for a hockey team to do but obviously I think everyone gets why they did it. Sid wanted to spend his entire career as a Penguin and ultimately that forced them to at least try to compete.

Winnipeg loses 5-0 to Florida and their crowd chants overrated.

They are 15-3 on the season now with all three losses coming against the Atlantic (Toronto, Tampa, Florida)

You want to beat the best and overcome your demons but it looks like this demon is going away on its own. I have a really hard time with Marchand as their captain. His on-ice antics are not what anyone would consider leadership qualities. Who's in the top right? The class Bergeron showed seems so far removed after the public sparing with Swayman and having Marchand named captain.

Who's in the top right?

That'll be Leafs legend, Andrew Raycroft, host of the Unobstructed Views alt-cast of the Boston games. For anyone else wondering, the other two are Leafs draft pick (and trade return for the aforementioned Raycroft), Tuukka Rask, and former captain Patrice Bergeron.
Here's the full episode the clip came from, if interested. Bergeron is as smart as you'd imagine, which explains why he was such a handful to play against.

The Suck sneaks up on you fast. Boston has been a pretty good team for a long time. Picking low for so many years, trading away picks and prospects and this is what you get.

Goalies should never miss training camp. Also, maybe he was sheltered by what was once a strong defensive team. It's not like Ullmark is putting up great numbers in Ottawa, either.
Yeah I’m sure missing training camp is absolutely a factor here. But personally I thought this contract was nuts from the jump. Very un-bruins like type contract.

Got nothing to do with missing camp like it would with a skater.

Disagree. I think camp is even more important for goalies to get their timing and rhythm down. Being weeks behind the shooters is a huge disadvantage.
The fact is Swayman has played 14 games and has been with the team for a month and a half. This isn't a missed training camp thing, this is a struggle to find his game thing and add in the team is not that good defensively. And he's not weeks behind shooters. He wasn't sitting at home with his feet up.
