2024-2025 ECHL

With the demise of the Growlers franchise, do the Leafs have any plans to secure another ECHL affiliation? Which players are contracted for the upcoming season?

Rangers moved on from Cincinnati to hook up with new ECHL franchise Bloomington recently.
There was some media discussion that Bloomington might have been a fit for the Leafs.
Maybe the Leafs are looking at Cincinnati ...
With the Leafs deep pockets to spend on depth, I would think they would be an attractive affiliate for many ECHL teams. In this case, Rangers have deep pockets too.

Would they not want the team in Canada - exchange rate, canadian dollar expenses, easy access?
Leafs got deep pockets and a place like Cincinnati is closer then Newfoundland.

The Everblades (and Josh Ho-Sang) recently won the Kelly Cup (3rd straight).

Good to hear.  Murray and Hildeby in the AHL and the Russian tandem in Cincy presumably

I expect the AHL and ECHL teams to carry 3 G. We'll see if Ryan Hardy brings back Keith Petruzzelli and Dryden McKay.

Cincinnati is a good choice, nice city and has proximity to T.O. that the Growlers never could touch. I do feel sorry for Newfoundland though.

I was looking at this last night because the Marlies had so many dmen (at least 12) after the signings. I ran into one I didn't know about.

Rofai L
Kokkonen L WE
Webber L WE
Chadwick L WE
Mermis L/R
Bengtsson L AHL
Matt Anderson L AHL
Niemel?, R WE
Villeneuve R WE
Mattinien R WE
Myers R
Chas Sharpe R AHL

WE = waivers exempt
AHL = AHL deal only

Some of those guys have to be bound for the ECHL.

I think there were only 29 ECHL teams and only 3 had openings.

Cincinnati was the closest.

The Leafs have bounced all over the ECHL.
I don't know why they don't just buy an ECHL franchise and be done with it.
