Tyler Toffoli to CGY so he can have a few more games vs VAN

Montreal got the collection bonus of having all three Pitlicks.

That feels like a pretty reasonable price to pay for a solid two-way forward who has 2 years left at $4.25mil. I'd have been interested in him if we could have found a way to fit him under the cap, but that likely would have only been possible if Montreal or someone else retained a little bit.

Wonder what Montreal could have gotten for him after last season when he finished 7th in goals.

What does this do for Hertl deadline prices?

Not sure it will be used as a comparable. Some teams will value Hertl's pending UFA status, while others will look at the extra years for Toffoli as having extra value.

Does set the market for 2nd line scoring wingers with term, though.

Toffoli was on my list of players I was interested in when Montreal signed him.  I don't love him at 4.5M but he's a solid 2nd line guy who plays a decent 2-way game.  I think he's a better fit in Calgary than he was in Montreal.

I feel like that's a pretty steep overpay.

Manson's certainly not the same player he was 2-4 years ago but a 2nd rounder and a B/C prospect still feels about right for a guy like him. Especially with 50% retained.

Interesting...stretch that out to the playoffs? Hmmm...go get him Dubas..

Well, hopefully this puts a dagger into the dreams Habs fans have of getting a first for Chiarot. As much as Manson has dropped off, he?s still the more valuable piece.

Manson off to the Avs..

Guilt Trip you think you could get Chychrun straight up for Nylander? If so would you make that trade?

The Avs are in the right spot to overpay a bit for deadline guys. They're clearly contenders, have picked in the 1st round every year since 2012, have a self-grown core upfront and on the blue line and have a pretty solid group of prospects.

Losing Nylander leaves a huge hole up front. I think Chychrun can be had without giving him up.

What else is Arizona adding? Because, that?s a HUGE overpayment.

As much as Nylander has struggled a bit our forward depth gets really suspect without Nylander

Well, I'm out.  This is the d-man I was hoping for.  Guess the deal was too rich for the Leafs blood.

Rumour is he has all the Canadian teams on his no-trade list.  Did not want to come to a place with Covid restrictions.
