2015 MLB Thread

I didn't see a new thread for 2015, so I figured I'd start one.

Unfortunately, some bad news. Adam Wainwright is probably done for the season with an Achilles injury sustained coming out of the batter's box after popping the ball up on the infield. Link

Class of 2015:  MLB Free Agency to be the priciest one yet...

A jagged broken bat can cause more damage than even a flying ball.

Terrible. Just a terrible thing to happen. Hopefully her condition improves and there's no long-term problems.

St. Louis Cardinals Investigated by F.B.I. for Hacking Astros

The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors are investigating front-office officials for the St. Louis Cardinals, one of the most successful teams in baseball over the past two decades, for hacking into the internal networks of a rival team to steal closely guarded information about player personnel.

Investigators have uncovered evidence that Cardinals officials broke into a network of the Houston Astros that housed special databases the team had built, according to law enforcement officials. Internal discussions about trades, proprietary statistics and scouting reports were compromised, the officials said.

The officials did not say which employees were the focus of the investigation or whether the team?s highest-ranking officials were aware of the hacking or authorized it. The investigation is being led by the F.B.I.?s Houston field office and has progressed to the point that subpoenas have been served on the Cardinals and Major League Baseball for electronic correspondence.

I think this attempt to get the Kansas City Royals voted to the all-star game thing is pretty amusing.

What would be more amusing is that the ploy costs the AL the game, and KC makes it back to the World Series and they lose again because they didn't have home field advantage. :)

It will be interesting to see where this goes, particularly if the worst hitter in MLB gets the start at 2nd base.

If I'm Omar Infante, I'd be absolutely mortified to get voted into the all-star game.  People in Kansas City might think this is great, but it's really going to bring a lot of negative attention to their players they'd likely rather not have to face.

Jose Tabata is a pile of garbage.  Max Scherzer had a perfect game in the 9th inning.  He had two outs.  He had two strikes.  And a pitch that is barely off the plate he stands in there and drops his elbow and draws a HBP.

Wow, you weren't kidding, he goes out of his way to make sure he gets hit by that pitch.

Thought I noticed too.  It wasn't like Scherzer's pitch was off.  Guess Tabata figured he wasn't going to give him (Scherzer) a perfect game.  Being no-hit was more than enough.

The ump shares some of the blame here. He should have called the play as a foul ball or even called Tabata out instead of a HBP, since Tabata intentionally put himself in a position to be hit.

Fresh after adding Johnny Cueto the Royals have made another big move by trading two prospects for Ben Zobrist.

Pretty relevant to the Jays as the Yankees were said to be pretty interested in him filling their awful hole at 2B.

The Royals and the Mets engaged in the longest game ever in a World Series -- 14 innings -- with KC winning it in the bottom of the fourteenth on Eric Hosmer's sacrifice fly that drove in the winning run.  5-4 final Royals over the Mets.

One amazing game.

Really exciting way to start World Series.. Hoping this is a 7 game classic. Royals are never out of anything it seems

If Game 1 was any indication, this should be an exciting WS.
