2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

I’d probably be more keen to see if we could trade “high” on OEL and keep Rielly. And somehow upgrade that ways where it might push Rielly further down the depth chart. And I like OEL and what he brought last season.

I’d be interested in Hellebuyck if something could be done, I think. But again it would be the length remaining on the deal might concern me. If it was only 2 years I’d be more keen

They need to stop Ersson about back there.

I feel like I’d bring one of Robertson or Maccelli back. And I probably lean Robertson just cos he was drafted by the Leafs

Leafs Acquired Raddysh [8 years, $8.5mil AAV]

It’s a fair point. After the success of last year, especially the production level of our formerly elite centre, why would the Leafs be looking to change their offensive structure?

Leafs Acquired Raddysh [8 years, $8.5mil AAV]

Also, paying a 5th round pick to get him before free agency is a fair price and good move from Chayka I feel.

Leafs Acquired Raddysh [8 years, $8.5mil AAV]

I actually think he’s a better fit now that he isn’t THE offensive guy and there’s a few other options for the opposition to key in on.

Jim Hiller is the new Head Coach

I guess they need to maybe go big for Raddysh? Not sure how I’d feel about a Trouba (or Klingberg, or Carlson), unless it was a shorter deal, but that probably wouldn’t get it done. I’d actually be tempted by Laughton again as a centre, to see how he’d look under a new regime. Wonder if you...

    Leafs part ways with Berube

Well, he probably can’t be any worse than Berube

Woll and Benoit traded to Philly

In isolation I’m not sure it’s something I’d have done. But if it’s setting the table for 2 or 3 more moves which have some level of (hopefully logical and thought out) strategy behind them then it may all look different in a few weeks. I reserve my judgment.

    NHL Draft 2026

Yeah I’d try and get the Chicago pick (would Rielly go there?) if Reid was still available maybe. Might need to get a Raddysh in the interim though cos if we lose Rielly our D is even less mobile.

    NHL Draft 2026

So we’re trading Rielly to the Sharks for their first and drafting Stenberg first and McKenna second, yeah?

Yeah, that’s not cool. No issues with them not giving out detail, players medical is their business so understand the vagueness. But it does make it potentially sound more scary, if you know what I mean.

    NHL Draft 2026

Can we not trade up and get the number 2 pick as well

    Leafs part ways with Berube

He sounds awesome. But I think the bit at the end is the key - why would he risk what he has for where the Leafs are now. I think they're a tricky sell for the likes of him. Unfortunately. Cos I'd like to see someone who comes from a bit of "out of the box" thinking with fresh ideas etc
