Sanchez was awesome, unfortunately Jays now down 3-2 heading to the 9th. I have a hard time being overly critical of Cecil considering how good he's been overall. Lack of production with RISP has been a problem once again so far.

Nylander reminds me a lot of Kadri in his early seasons. Obviously skilled but raw in the defensive zone and gets knocked off the puck easily. Nylander is a better skater though (and on faceoffs so far), the rest is just gaining strength and experience; it'll come.

What a great return for Winnik. Even more so if Laich can be parlayed into another pick next year. I agree that Washington has something brewing and wanted the cap space ASAP.  I just don't see how the Leafs get that kind of return for Winnik otherwise (even keeping in mind the pick is likely...

Leipsic really impressed him when I saw him live with the Marlies a few weeks ago and it looks like he's showing flashes of why with the Leafs. I don't think he'll ever be a top 6 option for the Leafs, but he might have a future as a 3rd liner. Very intelligent player from what I've seen.

Agreed. Guys like Arcobello, Frattin, Carrick, Brennan, perhaps Campbell will likely be the ones called up over the younger, more highly touted ones. Then once the Leafs' season ends they can promptly be sent back down for the Calder Cup run, unless there's some roster rule(s) I'm forgetting?

Yeah I thought both goalies were terrific. Russia came flying out of the gate and would have had at least a few on the board by the end of the 1st if not for Nedeljkovic who made some equally insane stops. Russia ended up outshooting the U.S. 33-27, not bad for a bunch of no-namers.

I've always been a Malkin fan as well, and I totally agree that he's been largely unheralded; either because of playing in the shadow of Crosby or people wrongly attributing his success to the influence of Crosby. Anyways, here's two more videos to add to his highlight reel this season...

Sucks that it's with a team in the division but other than that while I'm not exactly "happy" the Jays didn't sign him, the $31 million per year price tag makes it much easier to swallow.
