    2025 Blue Jays

A step in the right direction, and hopefully the first domino to fall for them. If it ends up being the only move, however…

    2025 Blue Jays

Yeh I’d say it’s pretty spot on in all honesty. And if I’m either Bichette or Vlad I’m looking to see where else wants me where I’ve a chance to win no matter what money Toronto can offer me cos there’s no way to get me the supporting cast I need in Toronto in the next 5 years

    2025 Blue Jays

I know (presume?) you jest, but, do we even think they’ll sign even one of them? And if they do get, say, Alonso, it’s a sure bet his regression will accelerate and he’ll be nowhere near his peak.

It’s ok, they’re in on Pete Alonso too

    2025 Blue Jays

Exactly. Ohtani at $70m a season clearly improves the team. But actually signing 3 or 4 solid players for a total of ~$30m might improve the team even more.

    2025 Blue Jays

I guess it’s good that they’re going in for these things. But it just seems like they’re throwing all their chips on red in the hope a gamble will pay off rather than actually trying to build a team. Then not building a team with the money they don’t spend on these guys and not seeming to have...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I would say that hockey is different in that luck can play a bit more of a part - hot goalie, puck bouncing off dodgy dashers, shot hitting post and bouncing either in or out, pucks deflecting in off skates or asses, forward getting on a shooting % heater where everything goes in for 2 weeks etc...

It’s ok, the Jays met with Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki. So he should reject us for LA fairly soon.

    Canucks @ Maple Leafs - Jan. 11th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

There's a few stats in today's Athletic article I thought were fairly interesting I know, process and learn to win and all that. But it is just kinda meh to watch. Maybe if they win it all, which is unlikely anyway, it'll make up for it.

Remember they hadn’t been shutout in decades. Berube hockey is really meh to watch.

That was my initial thought, but they need to get close enough so in a scrum or something so might take a couple of shifts for that

Anyone taking bets on how early in the game he gets cross checked to the back? I’m going for before the 6th minute of the first.

    2024-25 Marlies General Thread

I like seeing the different European teams but in terms of Canada I like seeing guys who maybe haven’t made it to the very top getting a chance to get rewarded with international caps. Last year the third Canadian goalie was from my team the Belfast Giants which was a nice reward for a guy who...

Well Teoscar is staying with the Dodgers. 3 years, $66m seemingly.

    2024-25 NHL Thread

Yeah I think he lined him up but both seem to sort of change directions/twist at the last second so I’m not sure he meant to lead with the knee. Definitely a major, maybe a game suspension or a fine.
