Nice to see Staal win Conn Smythe. OK, on with the offseason!

Well, Kirk did his job last night, as did Springer. Let's see if they can do it again today with Gaus pitching. I hope they can turn a corner here.

I'd bet you were.

At $8.7m for the next 5 years, he'd be a fit at 2C with his 30 goals. I just don't know if he's got a well rounded game.

Which is exactly why they were trying to trade him for Rantanan.

Rest in peace, Cliff. Draft Schmaft! How ironic that they have the first overall pick this month! Hell of a NHL career for this man. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/longtime-maple-leafs-flames-executive-cliff-fletcher-dead-at-90/

That's been the narrative for 15 years, and I stopped thinking that about 5 years ago. The Leafs have tried Rielly with like 20 different guys, and still nothing worked well enough...and like, what, 5 different coaches? I think it's a Rielly problem, not his partner. Rielly has the tools...

There are some bright spots, but they're going to burn up their bullpen and they'll have nothing left by September. They desperately need Cease and Bieber back in the rotation, and Vladdy needs to start hitting homeruns on the daily..or at least somebody does.

I don't know about you guys, but I cannot get behind the idea of Patrick Roy.

Anybody think Barry Trotz would want to coach again?

Especially given the current state of the union in Leafland, I'm not sure a rookie coach would easily survive the media scrutiny that's inevitable.

What are they going to do about Hoffman?

Jays at .500 is good for 6th place in the AL. That .500 record would be good for 11th place in the NL. So, like the reverse of the Leafs this past season.

I was thinking about that very same thing...given how it seems the players ran Berube out of town, at least the appearance of that possibility, superior coaches may not be interested in that kind of environment.

I feel so bad, so bad, for habs fans.

So, with Woodcroft reports going from "frontrunner" to "not interviewing at all", I'm going with the assumption that Woodcroft is not interested in the Leafs job. I say this because I can't imagine that the Leafs wouldn't want to at least have a chat with the Toronto native.

That was tough to watch, and I turned the game off after the top of the 6th, couldn't watch it anymore. Wrong move...good for them.

That was a grind of a game last night...nice to see the pitching and defense holding up while the bats are still cold.

Thanks for making it weird O-Dog!
