I'm most happy and excited to know we'll see a lifelong Jay, a (super)star player to boot. He's a unicorn wanting to spend an entire career as a Blue Jay (and in Canada). He has all the runway in the world now to go down as the greatest Blue Jay of all time. I personally cannot wait to see it...

What excellent news to start off the week.

A defence that for years was lacking quality right-handed D and toughness, Treliving has done an excellent job in the last 9 months rectifying that with the Tanev signing and Carlo trade.

Sucks seeing yet another 1st being traded in a deal for a bottom six player. I know it's the price to pay if you are looking to make a go of it. I hope the team is up to task, and Treliving does what is required to make it happen.

Was going to express disappointment about the 1st being traded. But two years out in 2027, and top 10 protected? That's palatable. Lots of time to recoup a pick between now and then.

The Jays aren't flush with quality/reliable pitchers, and it's not like banking on Scherzer is going to break their playoff aspirations. I'll take my chances on getting whatever they can out of Scherzer. If they need a starter come June, bring someone up or find someone off the scrap heap...

If we were picking strictly on this season's play than reputation, I could see him being on the outside looking in. Someone like Stamkos has been a Team Canada gem for years and he won't even get a sniff.
