Not a forensics expert or anything, but it seems to me a ball lodged under the padding would have the top obscured. I can clearly see the entire dome of the ball in this picture. It's not lodged, it made a dent in the padding and say there, on the ground, unlodged. :) Edit: I guess I'm not...
