Going after Gillis' character by linking him to the Frost mess (something like zero other people in hockey have done) the day before writing a puff piece on Roberto Alomar is classic Steve Simmons.

His previous interviews with other teams would suggest that he isn't even interested in a GM role.

As herman/Lebrun said, the Leafs haven't even found their search firm yet and seem prepared for this proceed to take 1-2 months. So I don't really think the names being thrown around right now are super relevant. This isn't like last time where Treliving's name was everywhere early and he was...

I somewhat jokingly brought this name up earlier but considering Pelley gave the Sabres a shoutout I wouldn't be shocked if Kevyn Adams was at least given an interview here.

These were my picks before Treliving was hired: Mehta essentially replaces Tulsky there. Gillis remains but I doubt we could get Gilman out of his deal with Columbus after only being hired there a few months ago even with a promotion. I still think my Garth Snow x-factor pick would be fun.

And not to glaze Dubas too much but your last point is also noteworthy. He had three 1st rounders last year (one already contributing in the NHL) and 13 picks in that draft overall. He's kept all his future 1sts. He has seven 2nd round picks in the next 3 drafts and five 3rd round picks. He's...

Sure but I think it was pretty clear his marching orders were to get Crosby back into the playoffs before his career ended, and so at the very least he's succeed there.

Yeah I think regardless of whether Pridham is fully deserving of a GM gig the team needs a fully fresh face right now.

Yeah, I mean, that's insane. Obviously the guys leading the charge were there before him (Crosby, Malkin, Rust, Rakell, Letang to a lesser extent) but I'm pretty sure nobody else on the team was there pre-Dubas.

Sunny Mehta would be an interesting name. Analytics guy who was a total outsider to hockey at first. But has now worked for 4 NHL teams over 10+ years including holding the AGM job with the Panthers while they won their two Cups.

It's pretty crazy. 3 years later Shanahan is gone, Trevling is gone, Leafs are a mess, and Dubas is taking a team almost everyone predicted would finish at the bottom of the Metro to the playoffs.
