I'd give John Herdman a chance, a success wherever he does! If Gruden can get the Marlies a win today perhaps he comes up for consideration.

I could live with that choice. Just don't want another retreaded coach who is now on team 5. No Boudreau!Zee said:It'll be Quenville. Saw that he was in the news recently rehabilitating his image, probably gets reinstated by Bettman this summer
Frank E said:I find it interesting that Tre signed Keefe to a 2 year deal a year out from his deal ending...so if they lose this series and Keefe gets sacked, he's getting sacked before his new deal even begins!
Having said that, lame duck thing and all, I could see him giving him a 1 year extension a year out...but 2? The Leafs had all the leverage there.

The Leafs would be Quenneville?s 5th team, dude. He would be exactly the type of retread you?re talking about.
Hope not. I just don't think he's very good. If they change the coach I hope they swing for the fence. Throw a boatload at Brind'Amour and give him whatever he wants for a staff. That owner is cheap.CarltonTheBear said:Berube kinda just feels like the incredibly obvious choice.
bustaheims said:A less ?accomplished? coach with NHL experience is the way to go. The list of coaches who have won the cup with multiple teams is incredibly short - there?s 3 of them, and only one outside the original 6 era.
No rookies, but no one who?s high profile, either. That?s the way to go.

Aren?t you literally describing Keefe?
I?m not for or against firing, I?m just confused by the criteria you?ve posted.

No. Keefe was a rookie coach.

I get that. I guess what I mean is you?re describing what Keefe is right now.

Maybe. And it wouldn?t shock me to see Keefe have more success if he lands another head coaching opportunity. It?s not unusual for coaches to need to go through a team or two before they get it right.

Keefe will get snapped up because of his regular season record. Maybe he can convert to Mormonism while he's in Salt Lake.
Which I just drove through yesterday, FWIW. It's not a very big city, even if you include all the necklace of suburbs that stretch north and south.
