Well, I did a search and we did have a thread called ?The Ashes? which had covered some cricket, but we hadn?t posted on it since 2015, which was during the World Cup. But there was a reason I was looking for a cricket thread and interestingly this post from that thread caught my eye:

I?m sure you?re all aware that there is currently a World Cup going on in the USA and West Indies in the shortest format of the game of cricket, the T20.

And just the other day Canada managed to claim their first ever win at a World Cup finals. Which I?d usually be delighted for them for? except it came at the cost of an Ireland loss 😩

The USA have also defeated Pakistan which is in the same group. Which is about the equivalent of Australia beating Canada at hockey. India is the 5th team in the group and they?re the absolute global behemoths of the sport.

Anyway, I know Canadians are proud of their sports teams so thought this may be of interest!
 
Good that they got one win! I don't know a lot about cricket, but I'm pretty sure India and Pakistan are both pretty good at it!

A much superior sport 😀 Nah, they?re similar, but different. I love them both. I?d say the t20 version of cricket (basically the version where a game lasts about 2.5 hours rather than a day or 5) is actually more full of action than a baseball game. But the big similarity they have is having that kind of rhythm to them.

One of the events the Canadian cricket team actually did before the tournament was a day with the Blue Jays.

India are probably a favourite to win the tournament. Pakistan are good, but they have a tendency to be enigmatic (losing to Canada in this tournament, letting Ireland win their first ever world cup game in 2007, among others).

Canada have been a decent side at that level just below the top tier off and on for a good while and have qualified for several world cups over the years but this was their first win. 



 
They don?t seem to be putting game highlights of the actual World Cup on YouTube, but here?s a video of highlights from a game a few months ago that gives a hit of the essence of the game if you want to watch to compare to baseball

Canada currently facing off (see what I did there?) against Pakistan.

I believe Willow Cricket channel is showing the game in north America so you can try and find that tp tune in if you wish.

Decent enough start from Canada, but will be a tough game.

Added interest for me - a former team mate of mine is playing in this game for Pakistan (Imad Wasim)
