Scott Hartnell signs 6 yrs @ $28.5 MIL Extension

Wow!  30 year old LW played all 82 games, scored 37 goals and had 136 PIMs.  He signed for less than $5 MIL a year.  Nice signing for the Flyers.  Starts in 2013.

I don't know, I like him, don't get me wrong but he's a fairly robust player, no? These guys more often than not have a limited shelf life. At 30, it's somewhat of a risk.

I always assumed that Hartnell was older than 30.
I think it's a good signing for both parties. Hartnell's season may of been a huge bleep on the radar. I think he's closer to being a 20-25 goal scorer as opposed to a 30-40 goal scorer.

You were accidentally right I guess. In the past 5 seasons he's only missed 3 games. With his style of play it's unlikely that continues, but who knows?

I don't think it works that way though. His ability to stay healthy in his career (and the last five years specifically) is a reason to think he can stay healthy, not evidence that he's "due".

He has never been the same since Aulie beat him up.  Now he is scoring 37 goals a year.
