Sabres @ Leafs - Oct. 25th, 5ish - SN?

I did not watch a second of this game. I don't regret missing a second of it. This team is unlikable.

Stolarz calls out the team and follows it up by playing like crap for three straight games.

Matthews scores a PP goal and does absolutely nothing else.

They play boring style of hockey that they can't handle. They play a boring style of hockey and it isn't even giving them wins.

I know it's not entirely fair to compare the excitement of postseason baseball to hockey but the crowd disparity at the Jays games relative to the Leafs. Ownership has cultivated a garbage fan experience by catering to people who don't even want to be there.

I get that it's October. It looks like Mermis-Myers was an abysmal pairing and logically they won't be there in the end. I'm tired of the team learning how to compete. I'm tired of the team getting out worked on the ice.

They finished 4th last season.
They're 26th now and have racked that up against a weak schedule.
Net PP% is 5% - that's the league basement for that stat
GAA is a goal more than last year. I blame the skaters more for that.

There have been rough starts over the years.
During the Matthews era, they started 2016 with the same .438 win% after 8 games and got the final wild card spot
They started 2021 with the same .438 win% after 8 games and finished .701, 115 pts (highest in franchise history)
So it is too early to conclude too much beyond they stink as much as they ever have at this point in the last 10 years.

Hopefully, they figure it out.
They have a fairly easy schedule for another 7 games or so.
We're probably going to have a fairly good idea on where they're going within the next month.
