Reliable sources are telling TSM that Jonas Siegel has left AM 640 to be the Leafs beat guy for TSN Radio.  We believe that he will start at TSN on August 1st.
Does this open the door for a Berger return to the radio waves? No idea but the winds of change just keep blowing so you never know?.

This guy's rumour track record has been pretty good - most recently calling Bill Watters demise before Pension Plan Puppets got rolling.

AM640 is entering their last season before their broadcast contract for Leafs games is up. Jonas is probably just reading the writing on the wall.

He's my favourite to read during the season with his frequent updates and stories.

Always liked reading his articles. Hopefully he'll still have a blog or something for TSN.

Yeah in this case he had the rumor and PPP basically took credit for Watters' demise due to his 3rd of July comment.  But they do that a lot over there.

TSN is really trying to scoop all the good talent aren't they? If this is true, is just seems par for the course.

640 has completely blown it, big time... it will be a country station soon  ;)

Good for him, 640 is Toronto Sports Media purgatory. He's good and deserves better.

I only listen to 640 for game broadcasts while in the car (or when I can't get a decent video stream at work) and for George Noory anyway. - I really don't tune in rhere for any sports commintary.

Used to love Coast to Coast when Art Bell was manning the show.

Yeah, but I like George. I'd love just one night at the pub talkin' turkey with that guy.

Last time I looked there wasn't a country station in TO, they could use one. As for the Leafs rights, I suspect they will land at TSN 1050.

He used to cover Leaf practices daily for Leafs Lunch / Bill Watters show, so he definitely had the inside track there.

AKA Jonas "The Beagle" Siegel / Jonas "The Bonus" Siegel

Great reporting...fair, balanced, insightful.  Best of all, no chest thumping.

I don't know where Berger would fit in.

I thought it somewhat strange that he was let go with the rumours that AM 640 was not going to retain Leaf rights and might even surrender them a year early. The rumours suggested that TSN radio and the FAN would be in a bidding war and that with the change in direction at 640 they might prefer to sell the rights to the final year. If true, I would have thought Berger would be secure unless his reporting had burnt sufficient bridges with MLSE that his continued presence became an impediment.

Once HB was cut loose, the newly minted TSN 1050 seemed like a logical landing spot, but Jonas has that nailed down now.

Given the programming screw ups at the FAN (punting hosts, bringing in a new morning guy then downgrading him then letting him go then bringing back Stellick and Rumack) we may yet see the return of Berger
