Preseason: Canadiens @ Leafs - Oct. 2nd, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

Leafs will basically have their NHL line-up tonight. Robertson still filling in for Jarnkrok up front. No Gio, Klingberg, and Timmins on D, the latter 2 of course dealing with injuries at the moment.

Tbh, not really missing Jarnkrok in that lineup. Although I think it's silly to trade a 20-goal guy on a sub-$3m contract, should Jarnkrok be shopped?

Yes he should be. I'm not sold on repeating his 20 goals. Can't recall 100% but I think 16 of those goals were with our top 4 players so he doesn't do much without them. He's 32 signed for 3 more years. His missing salary allows us more flexibility with a 22 man roster and not being dependent on LTIR. The biggest for me is 5 goals in 86 playoff games just doesn't scream great value.

The best value Jarnkrok could provide is if he is adequate offensively and above average defensively on Matthews? wing, which gives Knies-Tavares-Marner, Domi-Nylander-Lafferty/Robertson a good go.

If we could magic away Reaves and the cap fit: Give a little on L1 to gain a lot on L2-4
Bertuzzi-Matthews-Jarnkrok
Knies-Tavares-Marner
Domi-Nylander-Robertson
Gregor-Kampf-Lafferty

vs

Bertuzzi-Matthews-Marner
Knies-Tavares-Lafferty
Domi-Nylander-Jarnkrok
Robertson/Gregor-Kampf-Reaves

Pretty sure Domi has taken a penalty in every appearance so far.  First time it has cost us.

Gregor slashes in with a quick but normal wrister on net and it finds twine lol

Fantastic play by Marner to suck in two defenders while attacking short handed to spring Matthews for an open attack run, only stymied by an even more fantastic save by Allen.

After the PP is over, Nylander breaks up a rush in the NZ and quickly turns it into a fortuitous bounce for Domi?s first as a Leaf

Liljegren crushed Mailloux so hard he threw a hissy fit.

Not the best PP the Leafs have ever produced gives Montreal some life on a nice effort by Kirby Dach and Sean Monahan.

3-2 going into the 2nd intermission

A little lazy there but whatever. Not harping on Mo but any D man has to stop the pass....goalie takes the shooter.

New look Leafs which I think the fans here on the board would be on board with.

I blame Matthews in any case.

Matthews really handcuffed Mo there though. That was brutal compete level.

Matthews might not have his effort level at the end of a Pp shift, but his wrist certainly seems fine now. Rips a wrister into the crossbar
