Leafs Front Office 2026-27

Chayka and Domi go back to Max's junior hockey days and are friends.

Not that I'm defending any of this but he did trade Domi once.

The thing that has me nervous is the possibility that Berube is back to start the season.

Although who knows, the way things are shaping up maybe Tucker is the next leafs coach and Corson as assistant.

Rick Tocchet was coach while Chayka was GM in Arizona.

That I'd be ok with. I really don't want Chayka as the GM. The impression that I get from him is that he's a great interview and is able to dazzle lesser minds with a high level of intellect and that really helps mask any shortcomings he may have. Good interviewees have great answers to certain questions, but like philosopher Tyson once said, everyone has a plan until they're punched in the mouth. There are almost no convincing arguments as to why he should be GM that I've heard so far, and I'm sorry but "It was tough in Arizona" and "He's learned a lot since then" is not a valid case as to why he should have the job in Toronto.

The "philosopher Tyson" ... I love you.

That is one of the great quotes of all time.

My beloved Mats aside, this thing is beginning to look like a car that just hit a big pothole and busted the control arm and now the tire sits at a weird angle in the wheelwell and the thing won't go backwards or forwards and you gotta call a wrecker.*
