LA
?Cam Talbot (3-2-1, 2.72 GAA, .905 Sv%) will likely start for the Kings
?LA's acquisition of PL Dubois this offseason gave the team 3 strong centres down the middle and so far they appear to be playing well. 36-year old Anze Kopitar has 8 points in 8 games this season while Dubois and Danault each have 5

TOR
?Joseph Woll (3-1-1, 1.33 GAA, .961 Sv%) will start for the Leafs
?Liljegren was back at practice with the Leafs on Monday after leaving Saturday's game with an upper body injury, so he's expected to be in the line-up while McCabe will still miss a little bit more time

Flipping Jarnkrok and Knies seems like a decent swap. If Jarnkrok doesn't start clicking.

Jarnkrok is not the reason that line isn't clicking; he gets like <12% of their puck touches.

Knies being able to somewhat drive the 3rd line might be more important to the team overall than being the 3rd wheel on the top line, at least as far as this years roster goes.

I'm less worried about M&M clicking, and more thinking Jarnkrok could boost the 3rd line defensively, not that Knies has been bad, but he is a rookie. And Knies could be a lot of fun on the first line. Seems inevitable that we'll see it at some point unless Jarnkork makes it too hard to drop him.

If the first line was about fun, I'd definitely go with your suggestion. Keefe is using line 1 as the shutdown group and offense as well, which is a tall order for (rookie) Knies. I think he'll get a spin later this year, but I agree with Carlton on his value lower in the line up (a la Mikheyev-Kampf-Hyman).

At this point I think the Leafs just need a real 3C so that Kampf can move down a line.  Not sure if they have it internally.

Tavares would make an amazing 3C even after his current contract expires.

2026-27

Cowan (ELC) - McDavid (14M) - Marner (12M)
Robertson (2M) - Matthews (13.45M) - Nylander (10M)
Minten (ELC) - Tavares (1.91M) - Knies (3M)
Hirvonen (1.3M) - Kampf (2.4M) - Tverberg (900k)

Rielly (7M) - Liljeren (2.37M)
Kokkonen (1M) - Niemela (1.4M)
Cheapo-Cheapo

Woll (4M)
Cheapo

The Robertson, the ELCs, and 4th line guys can be subbed out for UFA cheapos, or Moldenhauer/Grebyonkin depending on how they're rolling.

I'm at work and this fantasy lineup is hindering my productivity.

Has there ever been a team in the history of the NHL that has had three first overall picks as their top 3 centers?  I think the Leafs should do it just for that reason.

I mean I guess the season the Leafs had Thorton, depending on where they slotted him, that could have counted....but it was a 42 year old Joe Thorton.

Man. If we had that lineup to start a season I?d be prepared to see what defencemen could be had for 1 of (or maybe even 2 of) Nylander, Marner or Matthews.

Would rather have Jack Hughes than McDavid for this team, actually, but McDavid is a more feasible get.

Did Edmonton ever run all their first overalls together for a bit? RNH, Yakopov, Hall, McDavid in 2015-16 but only two of them played centre.

Can't wait to have a good 4th line in 2026, gonna feel so good.

I know, right? It will be worth the wait T__T

Why would you destroy something so beautiful? There's plenty of cap space to just get someone good. Otherwise, trade Marner.

I'm still a Willy at C believer and nothing will change that until he gets like at least 10 straight games at the position.

That will only happen if Matthews screws up his wrist in the annual Leafs All Saint's Day Ping Pong Tournament.

I have him marked down for a ?revenge? goal on my Tim?s picks anyway.
