Should we, or nah

I think it adds some centre depth that we don't have right now. Wait, they signed him for how much?

wasn't expecting that one

I'm pretty baffled that Plekanec would agree to this. He's giving up the remainder of his $2.25mil salary (he has an additional $1.25mil in bonuses too, but maybe wouldn't hit them). I guess maybe the Habs threatened to send him to the AHL.

How is this allowed?  Can any player just be thrown on waivers to have their contract terminated?  Is there still a cap hit?

This has happened a few times recently.

A team and player can mutually agree to terminate a contract, and there are no cap hit penalties or anything. It usually happens with a European who is stuck in the AHL and wants to go play back home. Pretty rare for it to happen with a guy who still has good money left on the contract.

Hopefully there are no extenuating circumstances to get him to resign, hope him and his family are well. Not a nice way to go out. Oh and can we have our second back?

Wanted to retire a Canadien, but clearly didn?t want to deal with this front office anymore.
