CanesNow was able to take a peek in the Leafs lockerroom and found a list of strengths and weaknesses of the Hurricanes that Toronto put together:

The listed strengths of the Canes:

-- Good on the rush, get pucks to the net with middle lane drives.
-- Fast to get to the forecheck. Lots of quick ups in the neutral zone for tip-ins to speed. Coming back hard with all five stopping in home plate.
-- Have second-most power-play time in the league and most five-on-three time.

The listed weaknesses

-- Their D struggle when pressed. Will turn pucks over. Move our feet on the forecheck and cycles.
-- Loose coverage in their D zone, especially with cycles behind the net.
-- Have given up third-most goals in the league this year, most against even-strength.

All I have to say is that this has to be the 1st win of a big win streak.

GO LEAFS GO.... get er done.

Well, Carolina isn't on a prolonged slump, they lost their last game but had won the previous 2 games before that, so we wouldn't be "slump busters" tonight.

I have a somewhat optimistic look for the game tonight.

Thanks for a nice way to start off the GDT nutman.

I look at the leafs defense:

Keith Aulie -- 22
Cody Franson -- 24
Jake Gardiner -- 21
Carl Gunnarsson -- 25
Dion Phaneuf -- 26
Luke Schenn -- 22

Amazing:  Average age is 23 and a 1/3rd.
We can hope our defense improves by virtue of simply getting older over the next 5 years.  We could stick with these guys for the next decade if we wanted to.

I don't think this could be right on the leafs:

-- Have given up third-most goals in the league this year, most against even-strength.

The Leafs have given up by far the most PK goals in the league (38).  If they had also given up the most even-strength goals, they would have the worst goal-against in the league.

Those stats/information apply to the Hurricanes. Although according to NHL.com Carolina has actually given up the 2nd most goals in the league.

Great GDT!... 9.5/10 (.5 lost due to team's current record not being included.)  :P  Thanks nutman. Go Leafs!

Jeeze nutman, how could you forget that?!

P.S. I made the GDT nutman's contribution is at the bottom of the post

Ah, well thanks to you too, CTB. - I like the records there but I'm not going to lose my mind or anything if it's not there.  :-\

Oh ya ... thanks Carlton. after the turkey fest I did not think they deserved any better. good job though.

Good game-day thread nutman.  You're a nut for sure, man, but you may just be our good luck charm.  If we win you're the GD thread guy from now on.

4-2 Leafs!  Kessel, Kulemin and Aulie score tonight.
