Toronto News: David Steckel joined his new teammates at practice on Wednesday, centering a line with Phillipe Dupuis and Colby Armstrong. Tim Connolly took part in practice for the second consecutive day (upper-body injury), but did not play alongside projected linemates Joffrey Lupul and Phil Kessel and appears highly doubtful to play against the Habs on Thursday. He was joined by the suspended Clarke MacArthur and Colton Orr on an extra line. Matthew Lombardi is ready to play his first regular season game in nearly a year against his hometown Canadiens, and is expected to start on the fourth line. - TSN

Montreal News: Aaron Palushaj, Michael Blunden, Andreas Engqvist and Ian Schultz were assigned to the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs on Wednesday. The club will also place Jeff Woytwitka on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to Hamilton. - TSN

All info/lines comes from TSN Ice Chips and this opening post will be updated if the lines change leading upto game time.

This is a big game. The Habs are one of those teams that the Leafs have to finish higher than if they want to make a playoff spot.

It will be exciting to finally see a game that counts again.

Oh whoa is me.  Trying so hard to be realistic.  Predicting they won't make the playoffs.  But then as the season gets closer, I just can't get over the image of the Leafs attacking the league like a bunch of raiding vikings.  Then in the first 10 games there will be that one loss that crushes my spirit and true reality does sets in.  But until it does, attack the Habs, take no prisoners, show no mercy!

No Grabo, McArthur or Connolly makes this a bit tough but I still think we can out play the Habs. 3-2 Leafs.

I'm betting Grabovski is in.

I think he will be in also. Connolly is confirmed out however, earliest possible return for him is Saturday.

I have to say our forwards look absolutely pitiful.  Steckel and Dupuis together on the 3rd line?  That's not good enough.  Good think we have a 1-2 punch of Crosby, Malkin.... wait ...

Connolly has actually been placed on IR, so, the earliest we'll see him as a Leaf in a regular season game is next Saturday for game #3.

He was placed on the IR retroactive to when the injury occurred, meaning he has already spent the mandatory 7 days on the IR.

Yep.

Connolly, who suffered an upper-body injury at practice earlier this week, was placed on IR retroactively, meaning he can return to the team as early as this Saturday for Toronto's home game against Ottawa.

Our forwards don't look great, but then again the Montreal D looks paper thin. We'll see what happens.

Why does the provincial election have to happen tonight? And why did I think it was a good idea to get into journalism? And where the hell is Leeds-Grenville?

I guess I'll be recording the game, though it's going to be extremely hard not to hear the score. I'll be tweeting for the Ottawa Citizen and I'm bound to accidentally come across the score on twitter. Time to unfollow everyone, I suppose.

Let's hope Bozak and Kessel re-ignite their chemistry from Bozie's first year.  We're gonna need two scoring lines here.

I am glad we had our prov election on Tuesday!

For the twitter thing, unless you need to view your feed, just stay on your profile page and tweet from there, then you won't see anybody elses tweets!
