BOS
?Linus Ullmark (16-7-6, 2.80 GAA, .910 Sv%) will likely start for the Bruins
?Boston is in their first slump of the season going 3-3-5 in their past 11 games, and have only 1 win in their last 5 games. This slump has allowed the Panthers to pass them for 1st in the Atlantic, and has put the Leafs just 6 points back but with 2 games in hand

TOR
?Joseph Woll (9-5-1, 2.75 GAA, .918 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Ilya Lyubushkin is obviously the biggest question mark going into this game. He left Saturday's game with a head injury and with no practice on Sunday there hasn't been an update on his status yet

Phew, I was pretty worried Lyubushkin was gonna miss time. That would have definitely been very Leafy.

Great news about Luby. Thought he may miss some time and giving up the 3 and 6th for that would not have been nice.  I like what he brings, stability to Mogen.

This feels like such a weird lineup still to me. I could see a world where they still need an upgrade on D and another forward, ideally a centre.

Bertuzzi-Matthews-Nylander
Jarnkrok-Domi-Marner
Knies-Tavares-McMann
Holmberg-Kampf-Reaves

Would be interesting to see. Can be compressed to tried and true lines for DZ situations.

I'm content with the defence. The only upgrade now that really makes sense is to bring in a #2/3 type defenceman, and that doesn't seem likely to happen right now. I wonder if at some point you gotta swap Liljegren with McCabe if Lily can't handle top match-ups on a game by game basis, but there's time to figure that out before playoffs.

I agree about the forwards though. The 2nd line there has put up some goals and it's great to see Bertuzzi finally getting hot, but the underlying numbers with that line has been pretty brutal defensively. I just don't see how you go into playoffs with that trio, especially with a 3rd line that isn't really structured to handle match-ups either. But again, it doesn't seem like that's a problem that can get fixed in the next week. Someone like Alex Wennberg from Seattle could be a good guy to pick-up to play C but he's someone that makes more sense to pursue as a free agent this offseason.

I suppose there is a debate about who starts in net, I would vote for Woll.

I probably go Samsonov, only because he had a great start against Boston earlier in the season, while Woll was only okay when he faced them.

Depending how things go from there, either Sammy gets the Bruins again on Thursday, with Woll getting Buffalo and Montreal to finish out the week. I think getting Woll back into games against some softer opponents at first is probably ideal. After this week is out of the way, the opportunity to do that without him sitting for extended periods goes away.

I hope he isn't pushing it

That line might be a challenge to defend. They're all over the place. But teams are probably aware that they'll eventually turn it over or miss an assignment. I think you're right - that adding a center with more of a defensive conscience/awareness would help but is tough to expect that help in the next week.

Jury is out for me on the third line. Their first game together was pretty good. They're all two-way players. I'm sure they'll score some. I'm not sure how well they'll shutdown opposing lines. They might be good. I doubt they'll be bad. McMann & Tavares both like to go to the net. Maybe McMann should focus on puck retrieval and getting it to his linemates.

Speaking of...

I really like Wennberg as a possible middle-6 C here, I just have doubts the Leafs would have the assets required to get him right now. We'll find out soon enough I guess.
