STL
?Jordan Binnington (18-13-2, 2.89 GAA, .909 Sv%) will likely start for the Blues
?St. Louis is 15-7-1 since firing head coach Craig Berube and replacing him with Drew Bannister. That's put them back into the playoff picture as they currently occupy the 2nd wild card position in the West

TOR
?Ilya Samsonov (9-4-6, 3.38 GAA, .879 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Toronto is of course expected to be without Morgan Rielly. That's led to Keefe moving Liljegren up to the top D pair alongside Brodie in his place
?Kampf and Giordano are both expected to return to the line-up, while Timmins has still not practiced and is expected to be out with an illness

Liljegren on the PP?
They had McCabe kn PP1 yesterday.
Why? I am starting to believe Keefe is out to lunch. Bring in another rookie coach to struggle through the prime of this core... aka the Shannaplan.

He's the 2nd highest scoring defenseman on the team. I think he's shown some decent offensive instincts this season.

Jones is also considered day to day with a minor injury, so Hildeby's been called up to dress as back-up while Samsonov starts.

McCabe for the most part is through "developing". Let's give a young developing and possibly integral piece of our lineup a shot. I think the team is just spinning its wheels at this point neither developing nor a legitimate threat.

Liljegren is not on the PP because he was on the ice when the Isles got behind the team while on the PP iirc.

Liljegren is our best trade bait at this point. I think Keefe doesn't trust him. I like Lilly but Neimala will probably be up next year in the same role (at less money)

I couldn't disagree more. Have you seen our blueline personnel? This team is supposed to contend and you're talking about someone named Neimala? Who? Timothy should be pushed hard right now to see what we have and what he could be.

Actually I do agree. I really like Liljegren and want him to succeed
However I am not the coach

I honestly don?t understand what the issue is here. With the players available I don?t see what?s wrong with this at all.

This is the NHL, not a development league.

McCabe was only a 4D/5D caliber defenceman until he turned 25 and finally established himself as a serviceable top 4. Liljegren is still 24 years old. I don't think it's too late for our Timothy by any stretch.

If over the next few years, Liljegren gradually turns into a slightly better Jake McCabe? that's still a win I'd think.

McCabe on PP1 is the least disruptive option as he maintains the LH presence at the top, and Liljegren can stay on PP2 duties. Long suspension so things can change later if need be.

Edit: turns out Keefe brought this up
