Take it with a grain of salt for now of course, but a report from a Russian website says that representatives of the Leafs are currently in Russia talking to Nikita Zaitsev and former NHLer Alexander Radulov.

(translated) The leaders CSKA Moscow forward Alexander Radulov and defenseman Nikita Zaitsev at the end of this season and left the capital club will move to the club of NHL "Toronto Maple Leafs".

According  AllHockey.Ru , over the past few days in Moscow are the representatives of the Canadian Club, are engaged in a discussion of the details of contracts with hockey players.

Recall that at one time in the "Toronto" acted 7 Russians.

Should I assume that the last line means the team had 7 Russians at some point?

I'm not sure I buy it, and Elliotte Friedman seems to think it's not credible. He'll earn a lot more in Russia than he would from the Leafs, and that's been a motivating factor for him in the past.

That being said, he's a very talented player, and if he wants to sign with the Leafs, I'd be all for it.

There's been a few reports since the summer that he would be looking at a NHL return since his contract is up in Russia. If that's true he'll be taking a pay cut anywhere he signs, but the Leafs could very well provide him with the best opportunity.

Or this could all just be a negotiating ploy on his part to get more money out of CSKA.

How is he selfish?

Bob Mac or Dreger mentioned today on the radio that he actually stopped mid play and put his hand on his hip because he wanted the puck and it wasn't passed to him.  Similarly with the PP.  That is just 2 stories I have heard on the ice.

Off the ice, everyone must remember when he and Andrei Kostitsyn  decided in the playoffs to go to the bars because they felt like it and were spotted around 5 am. (Insane!!)  I believe that Poile himself called it selfish in the reports.

The play that you're describing was actually Sergei Kostitsyn. Sorry, quickly read the description of the play wrong. Nevermind.

Radulov's issues have generally been off-ice. He's a heck of a player. But the last time he came back to the NHL for Nashville late in the season he was suspended for a playoff game because he was apparently out at a bar really late before a game.
