2015-2016 NFL Thread: No More "Deflate__, er, __gates!"

New season begins September 10th.  Meantime...

Deflategate" ain't over.  The NFL (Comissioner Roger Goodell) slaps Patriots quarterback Tom Brady with a four-game susoension, effective at the start of the new 2015-2016 NFL season.
Suspension will be challenged by both Brady and the NFL Players' Union.

(Looks like this will become more interesting and a 'distraction' to the upcoming season itself).

Brady, Super Bowl MVP, under the suspension rules, will not return to the New England lineup until October 18th against the Indianapolis Colts or Week 6.

I don't get his whole "Brady's reputation is on the line" thing, professional sports have a seen a lot worse things then allegedly deflating a football. I personally would not label him a cheater and would still consider him one of the best.

I echo same.  Brady won MVP, the Super Bowl, and is rated amongst one of the great quarterbacks on a list.

Besides, even if he did 'cheat', as a Brady fan, I'd be willing to forgive.  :)

So my hate for Brady's charmed life grows.

I'm not sure it's so much his charmed life as much as Roger Goodell being a terrible commissioner.

Court ruling nullifies Brady's four-game susoension; NFL commissioner to appeal:

Went down to Orchard Park and got to see my Bills completely dominate the Colts!
I can't wait to see what Rex has planned for Brady and the Pats next weekend!

LETS GO BUFFALO!!!  8)

Arriverderci Romo.

Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo suffered a broken left clavicle (collarbone) in last Sunday's clash between the Eagles and the Cowboys, and is possibly out for a lengthy time, if not for the season.

This is the second time that Romo has had this injury and it couldn't have come at the worst (or best) time for the surging 2 and 0 Dallas Cowboys.

Poor Jerry Jones.

Romo to miss eight weeks, and best news of all for Dallas Cowboy fans...no surgery required.

The Rex vs Bill show.  As in Rex Ryan (Bills) vs Bill Belichick (Patriots).  Guess who won?  :)  :)  :)

Brady 40  the Buffaloes 32.  :D

Who needs to deflate footballs?  Not Tom Brady.  Tom Terrific, in leading his New England Patriots this season to a 4-0 record, has plenty of stats that speak for themselves which include 347 yards passing per game, 11 touchdown passes (with no interceptions), a completion percentage of 72.1 and a passer rating mark of 121.5.

These statistics are enough to give Brady the moniker of best quarterback in the league.
Way to go, Brady!

I think the receivers are using Stickum!

Huh???  Colts' punt attempt...Dud!

This was the situation: Colts ball on their own 37-yard line, 1:14 left in the third quarter. The score was Pats 27-21. This was a game, back and forth. Considering the recent history of New England blowout victories in this series, it was rather promising for Indianapolis.

And then it wasn't.

Rather than simply punt the ball away on fourth-and-3, Indy shifted almost its entire team to the right side, leaving the ball unattended in the middle of the field. That's when third-string wide receiver Griff Whalen assumed the role of center with safety Colt Anderson becoming the quarterback.

New England immediately spread out along the line of scrimmage, planting players on either side of Whalen, a third just a yard back and two more in the area. This was essentially five on two, and since Whalen would have to snap he wasn't in any position to fully block.  There was ample time to bail on the play. Indy didn't. Then Whalen snapped the ball to Anderson, who didn't take it cleanly (perhaps he was surprised). Patriot Brandon Bolden stepped up and immediately tackled Anderson in about the easiest fourth-down stoppage ever.

The refs threw flags all over the place because the rest of the Colts were lined up illegally, with not just too few guys on the line of scrimmage but lacking anyone on the left side of the football. Even if the play had somehow worked, it was completely ridiculous in its design.

The entire concept was a complete disaster.

....and the Patriots went on to a 34-27 victory maintaining a perfect 5-0 record on their season.

Go Brady!

The Carolina Panthers remain perfect at 14-0 with the win yesterday over the NYGiants.  The game featured an imbroglio between the Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. and the Panthers' Joel Norman, as they went at each other throughout the game, eventually resulting in Beckham dishing out a vicious head hit on Norman.  Beckham should have been ejected but wasn't (incurred penalties instead).

I was watching that game and they should have both been tossed. ESPN is reporting that Beckham will be suspended for 1 game as a result of his actions.

The next little while will be very interesting in NFL off-field news as the Chargers, Rams and Raiders have all filed for relocation to Los Angeles.

Honestly they should really be referring to this as 'filed for TEMPORARY relocation to Los Angeles'.  How many times does LA have to fail as a football center before the NFL stops trying to force a square peg into the round hole.  It's not like they need to try and attract that region to be interested in the NFL.
