Leafs sign Ryan Reaves [3 years, $1.35mil AAV]

Been in hibernation for a loooong time (forum member since the penaltybox.com times but have been only lurking and reading posts the past few years) but decided to respond now. This is a mind-baffling signing indeed if the rumored term and AAV are correct. One-year deal at league minimum I could...

Spezza signs with the Leafs [1 year, $700k AAV]

At league minimum (or close to it), this is a very nice signing, if true. Spezza has considerably slowed down but he can still be a nice addition to the 2nd PP unit which was quite dysfunctional last season. On even strength I guess he would play sheltered minutes as the #4C.

    Armchair GM 2018-2019

If the Jets suggested that trade I think Dubas would take the offer and run. Ehlers is basically a LW version of Nylander locked into a contract Nylander should be getting and Trouba is a little less gifted offensively than Gardiner but much better defensively and also a coveted right-hand shot...

    Trade Deadline

While I'm slightly upset the Leafs did next to nothing, I can understand why the management chose this path. Their recent run has put them back into contention for home ice for the first round (Tampa is probably out of reach now that they added McD but the Bruins will be losing a lot of points...

    Yahoo Hacker Hockey 2015/16

For once the autopicker did pretty well, got a few of the players I really wanted on the team and the season has started on a positive note after making some fine tuning via free agency. Now if Rask only returned to his normal form instead of trying to emulate his mentor from the times he still...

    Yahoo Hacker Hockey 2015/16

Ok just noticed the draft has been moved and now it's at 3am on Monday morning in Finnish time. I'm not really a fan of auto-picking so I'm gonna drop out for this season - will rejoin in the future though if the draft time is changed to something more suitable for me. Edit: Gonna leave the...

    Yahoo Hacker Hockey 2015/16

Got two other drafts coinciding with this one on the 4th so that will probably affect my drafting a bit  :P Hopefully my turn doesn't come at the same time in 2+ leagues too many times, that could cause some interesting picks even tho I have pre-ranking lists made for each league.

Round 1: Lightning (A2) vs. Red Wings (A3)

Stamkos just hasn't been the same since he had the knee injury last season. I'm hoping the Leafs aren't going at him with league maximum if he happens to hit the UFA market - while he's still an elite player it looks like he's not gonna perform at a level warranting that much money anymore...

    Florida interested in Kessel

Agreed, Hertl became overhyped because of the highlight reel goal he scored last season as a rookie. He's rapidly following Jon Cheechoo, Devin Setoguchi and even Dany Heatley on the list of "look what playing alongside Joe Thornton did to my stats". Having said that, I wouldn't mind him as a...

Leafs 2014/2015 Schedule in 10 game chunks

Regardless of where they are in the standings, the Canes tend to always have the Leafs' number so the streak will really be tested on Thursday. The last time the Leafs won in Raleigh was in March 2011 so it's not like getting points from there is going to be an easy task. This year's edition of...

Which team would you most like to see draft Connor McDavid (besides the Leafs)?

Edmonton, that's the only team where McDavid won't have any kind of negative impact towards the Leafs' chances of winning the Cup in the near future.

Leafs 2014/2015 Schedule in 10 game chunks

I'll say 5-4-1, not the strongest of opposition but 3 back-to-backs in there will even the table.

Leafs set to sign Petri Kontiola

Thought I'd chime in as a Finn who has seen quite a lot of Kontiola. He's a very skilled playmaker and a good skater too. Based on talent alone he could be - like others have already said - the best center on the Leafs. I think his linemate at this year's worlds, soon-to-be-Blue Jori Lehter...

:-( is it true?? Reimer wants a trade....

Not surprising after Carlyle threw him under the bus by blaming him for the losing streak. Granted, Reimer was far from stellar during that stretch but neither were many other players and I don't even want to mention Randy's "coaching strategies" here. Will be interesting to see where Reimer...

    Komarov wants back in....

Well, his agent might be but Leo himself definitely isn't. The Finnish World Championship team just got home to Finland yesterday evening and Komarov was a part of that team. I doubt he flew straight to Canada after just getting here, especially since he said he'll need some rest at home now...

Round 2: (M1) Pittsburgh vs. (M2) New York

Classy Crosby vol. 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvoTjmUaiBw Edit: Just to clarify I posted the vid just to show (yet another) example why I don't like Crosby as a player. The consolation to St. Louis over the loss of his mother was real class - wish he would be like that on the ice too and...

    Randy Carlyle/Leaf Coach thread

Barry Trotz would be a good fit, as would Peter Laviolette. Either of them would be a better option than the two you mentioned, and both are still available. There could also be other names in play after the playoffs are over, I can easily see for example Bylsma getting fired if the Pens don't...
