Yeah, I remember Burke saying he operated that way but I don't think everyone necessarily does things the same way. With this case, where Marleau is probably fully aware of the cap situation with the Leafs, I'm don't think it would be too awkward a conversation to ask if he was open to a move.

In this case, I just don't think the Leafs would bother talking to other teams if they haven't had a conversation with Marleau about it.

I'm not a Nylander "hater", I think he's a good player and am totally fine with the contract but lighting up Norway for 5 points and a couple 2 point games against Austria and Italy isn't anything to get excited over, but hey, if you think it's a big deal... great.

Maybe not exactly as many points as Nylander but Kucherov, Mantha, Gusev, Voracek have within two points of him and then Kakko, Hornqvist, Hischer Hronek and Lander have 7 points each too. Do you really think beating up on these teams is indicative of anything?
