Sun: Leafs interested in Joe Thornton

Sure, if he could actually fetch that.  I agree with Andy I'm not so sure he could. Maybe an E. Staal type trade.  Beyond that? Not likely getting anything a whole lot younger or better than Thornton. edit: Joe will be 35 next season, but like Sundin he's pretty much an iron man. Missed a...

Sun: Leafs interested in Joe Thornton

Thornton for Phaneuf. Wudja? Kind of makes sense for both teams, is a wash cap wise until JT is UFA, addresses a need for SJ to use Dion to replace Boyle (if they think he's capable). The Leafs get a #1 centre who may be old but is still more than capable and they address the concern around...

Pittsburgh fires GM Ray Shero - Head Coach Dan Bylsma NOT fired

Why on earth is Bylsma a good option?

I really like this choice.  Not to mention the kid seems totally stoked to be part of the Jays org.

Based on this, it seems like he was told to slow down/retire by Karmanos.

Draft Pick Watch - WE PICKED NYLANDER!!1!!

ok so let's just play around for a second here with the notion this rumored stuff is actually true... it's possible that there could be proposed deals out there that include JVR which may bring the Leafs either a legit #1 centre or a true stud d-man.  If that was the case, I would be okay with...

I think Bozak was put on that list just to troll all the haters.

Poor Pierre has a sad. :( At least he now has the summer off to invent some new words.  "Activication" needs some friends.

@LottOnBaseball Deck McGuire struck out 10, walked one, allowed one run in seven innings for Buffalo today. nice.

Draft Pick Watch - WE PICKED NYLANDER!!1!!

In this draft  I would, because that $10 is just as likely to become a $6.50 and you may have to wait 2-3 years to find out.  Where you know those two $5's you got are going to play now and have at least a moderate impact on your team now. Fla is almost in the same boat as Edmonton. At some...

I blame the beard.  Shave the beard and your pitching will return, Steve. Simple solution.

Draft Pick Watch - WE PICKED NYLANDER!!1!!

True, or at least a couple of extremely high end young players, already established in the NHL and their best years ahead of them.... on reasonable contracts. Sooo like Kadri + Gardiner, maybe?  Which then becomes a weird deal for the Leafs to make.

The 2014 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Well yeah, that too.  In a round about way I was trying to get to that same point, but more focused on the decision that led to ending up using Janssen then bringing him in at all.  I'm sure another pitcher could have come in for that final out, although the fact he only threw 3 pitches likely...

I think the hope was Santos was going to become the setup guy for Janssen, but Santos is terrible and always hurt. The Delebar/Cecil combo was kind of taking that role but they have not been as effective this year as they were last year.  I wonder if McGowan is going to elevate to that role...

Yup and chances are, if the Jays are up in the 9th in the next few games, it will be situations where you want Janssen to be available.
