    Leafs part ways with Berube

I literally don't believe any of it. I can handle reporting on logical conclusions, but reporting he's coming back was bonkers.

Boone Jenner is a great utility guy who can do a bit of everything.

Leafs Front Office 2026-27 | Speculation, Discussion

He did fight the Gudas. I don't know who else would have. His skill set in absolute shit, but if we're not going to be competitive, I don't mind him on the team.

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

I would be fine with it as long as they're drafting and developing well. If we had three first-rounders (including our own) over the next 3 seasons and some prospects and young players from a Matthews/Nylander trades. I think we would be 5-7 years away from a return to contention.

R2: Anaheim Ducks (3P) vs. Vegas Golden Knights (1P)

I blame the core 4 equally. No matter how you spin it, 4 forwards making half the cap doesn't allow for a deep enough team to be competitive in the playoffs. Any of the core 4 (in their prime) on Vegas would probably be putting up big numbers.

and the data says...................... Berube sucks!

R2: Montreal Canadiens (3A) vs. Buffalo Sabres (1A)

I am just pissed that one of these two teams will surpass what the Leafs have done in the Matthews era. I was at the last conference final game the Leafs played in versus Carolina: Sundin scored with the goalie pulled, and I literally felt the ground shake under my feet. Then Martin Gelinas...

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

On no planet should a bottom-5 team trade away the 1st overall pick.

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

Fire Berube today. Can anyone explain to me why they would keep him? I am genuinely interested in hearing any argument for keeping him. Is there one? The only thing I can think of is self-preservation, an extra bullet in the chamber. His prospect development, style of play, in-game decision...

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

Like CW said, force Matthews to make his call now and get on with it. Watching him walk would be a ridiculous thing for a floundering team to do. What could the Leafs possibly do to be a legit contender over the next two years? A Tanev/Woll/Stolarz repeat of 24/25 is not happening.

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

That's why you trade for picks and accelerate a rebuild.

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

Barf! This team and core have won jack squat. Time to move on.

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

WHY????? Recoup and accelerate the rebuild.

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

I don't know what to think. I don't believe this team can contend, so I kind of hope that Matthews just says he wants out so the path forward is much clearer. If Matthews stays, draft Mckenna trade Nylander for young grade A dman. If Matthews wants out, trade everything and everyone for draft...

Leafs Front Office 2026-27 | Speculation, Discussion

My prediction is a repeat of last season, and pissed away and devalued assets. In two years, we can start rebuilding a core. Give those guys 5 years to develop, so we're 10ish years out from contending again.
