2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

2007-2017 was 10 years of failure. Let's not toss that word around lightly. They didn't win a championship, sure, but they haven't been a failure. They've been one of the top teams in the league since 2017.

Well no it's not the entire rationale. Just follow the money. Quatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia have essentially rented the US Military.

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

I really don't want to move knies. I know it's a down year but I believe it's injury related. When was the last time the leafs had a potential power forward? And this young? I can't think of a single one other than Clark since I started watching the leafs in 89.

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

I agree but that would have been ideal 3 years ago. It's kinda too late now. Smart teams pivot and restock. Is this a smart team?

If he gets traded I believe it will be in the off season.

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

Using Treliving math shouldn't Roy be at least worth what he gifted to Philly for Laughton? I'm guessing the return is going to suck. Or maybe I'm trying some reverse psychology.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

What I think is nuts is any talk of a mcmann extension. But why do I feel like that's more likely to happen than any good trades.

    Because he's smooth.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I particularly agree with the notion that Treliving has no business managing another NHL team. But what I'm finding annoying is why are the leafs where GMs come to die. JFJ, Burke, Fletcher, Nonis and soon Treliving. So many come to the leafs, fuck up the team, and then never get another GM job.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Goaltending is the hardest position to fill. They've been looking for a real #1 since Belfour. Every GM since has struck out on goalies.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Sure but I'd say he did more good trades than bad and I don't see any franchise altering trades in his repertoire. What I also appreciated is that he didn't hesitate to pivot on a fuck up. Look he wasn't perfect but he was definitely better than the period between Quinn and Lou. I really...

Didn't Pittsburgh put him on waivers last year and no one touched him?

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I still don't understand how the leafs are better off without Dubas and Keefe. I wasn't the biggest Keefe fan but at least he had an entertaining hockey style. And Dubas, I truly believe had a plan to pivot. I know people like to shit on him, but I think for the most part he was a smart guy...

That's true too. Hadn't thought of that either. Speaking of jarry, I'm really still surprised that there was no salary retention with that trade.

I agree but I don't trust Treliving with any moves of consequence.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I would love if they found a way to ship him to Edmonton. Although I don't think they're stupid enough to take on a 4 year commitment. I'd almost be willing to accept jarry in exchange. Only 2 years left on his contract.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

He's one guy I would keep. You know how hard it is to find a goalie? The leafs haven't had a homegrown goalie since Potvin. And the one they did get, they threw away in one of the worst trades in franchise history. They could have got something for stolarz had they not signed him to that...
