Totally fair points on the Nylander vs Knies second contract debate. The big difference is timing, Nylander signed in a flat-cap world, while Knies will be negotiating in a rising one. That alone makes a huge difference. The upcoming cap jump should make his future number much easier to stomach...

Based on where the salary cap is supposed to go in the next few years this is a solid deal for the Leafs. It's already fine in year 1 and will be an absolute bargain by the end if Knies continues the way he's been going
