It totally could go either way. Some of it will depend on what the Leafs do in the playoffs, some will depend on how Marner plays for Vegas in the playoffs.

That's also true of the three way version of this trade. Both are the same for Vancouver and if they were willing to do the three way, then it's better for the Leafs to cut out Jersey.

We may not be looking back fondly on it now without knowing how this time line worked out, but what a start for Treliving if he had traded Marner a month into the job. Maybe we are comparing that trade to the Kawhi trade today. Now it looks like he just took the safe road and we got burned.

I'm glad Bennet is off the table, if he really is. I know his playoff resume, but signing him as a UFA would surely backfire on the Leafs.
