    Leafs add Maccelli

Maccelli at least appears to understand where the defensive zone is.

    Leafs add Maccelli

Hah, my first thought about this was "this feels like a Dubas move".

    Leafs add Maccelli

Interesting condition on that: Should the Maple Leafs earn a playoff berth and Maccelli records at least 51 points in 2025-26, the pick will be converted to a second-round selection in 2029.

    Leafs add Maccelli

This with Nylander could be something.

    Leafs add Maccelli

Huh. Don't really hate the add... although it creates quite the logjam at forwards, especially left handed ones. Feel like Domi's gotta be going elsewhere now.

    2025-26 General Trades & Signings

I could see the Wings being in on pretty much everyone. Ehlers or Boeser up front. Ekblad (from Windsor) on D.

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

Little bit of a reminder that the Marlies also exist, and we'll likely be seeing a number of signings of players that are earmarked for that team. The Marlies will need a lot of help at the top of their line-up. Especially if Steeves doesn't return (couldn't blame him if he wanted to see what...

    2025-26 General Trades & Signings

Retention on Sissons makes sense... Vegas giving up a draft pick doesn't. It's almost like Hague's contract is being treated like a salary dump before it was even signed.

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

Someone who I very much did not exactly expect to be a speedster is Sean Kuraly. If the plan for Laughton is to have him somewhere in the top-9 I think he'd be a solid centre on a forechecking/banger line with guys like Jeannot/Brazeau/Lorentz/Tanev/Pacioretty.

Jeannot would be my preference. A better skater and has PK experience (although only with Nashville). Brazeau probably comes cheaper though and is a right-handed shot which is a bit more of a need even on the 4th line. Would be fine with either really at the right price.

Marchand and Mangiapane feel like the two leading bets there right now. I'd still like to get someone with size (and who knows how to play hockey) like Jeannot or Brazeau too for the 4th line.

    2025 NHL Draft thread

Herman's point about scouts typically not loving the Q probably has at least something to do with it. Looking now it also seems like his team, the Charlottetown Islanders, isn't very good and seems shockingly bad at producing NHL talent over the past 10 years. Their NHL alumni list is here and...

    2025-26 General Trades & Signings

This is a very confusing move as Nashville underpaid when it came to trade assets required to get Hague but then overpaid on his contract. Like I'm kind of shocked Vegas couldn't move him for more than a 4C and bottom pair defenceman (granted both those players fit the Vegas mold). Maybe Hague's...

    2025 NHL Draft thread

That's a good question. Others ranked him fairly high too (Sportsnet at 62 and McKeens at 72). He's still not really a Leaf right now but maybe if he signs someone can dig into that some more.

Believe they have until he reports to his junior team to sign him.

    2025 NHL Draft thread

Not a draft pick but Owen Conrad was considered by many one of the best undrafted prospects this year. He's an 18-year old defenceman from the QMJHL and you will not be shocked to learn that he's tall (6'3") and big (213 lbs). From The Daily Faceoff: The Athletic had him ranked 43rd in Corey...

Knies extended [6 years, $7.75mil AAV]

I think Domi's at market. Again I've talked about him not being a great fit here but that's not really for cap reasons. He just doesn't really have anywhere to hide here like he would on other teams. OEL I'd say is market at best right now. I mean soon to be 34-year old 3rd pairing guy at...

Seems fine. Figured it'd be closer to $8mil after the Peterka contract. Was hoping it'd be closer to $7mil before that contract though. At least it's not a short deal though.
