2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

One of the things Treliving always brings up about Roy is his ability to play in a bit of a match-up role so I'd be surprised if that's not what Berube is penciling him in for too. That means players like Domi/Robertson/Cowan are a little incompatible with him. Something like this could...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

For funsies, this would probably be my forward line-up if we started the season tomorrow: Knies-Matthews-Domi Maccelli-Tavares-Nylander Laughton-Roy-McMann Lorentz-Kampf-Jarnkrok/Pezzetta Some pros. I think compared to playoffs we've gone from having two 4th lines, neither of which really...

    2025-26 General Trades & Signings

I think every team, certainly every team in the East, is going into this season expecting that one way or another they'll need to beat Florida in order to win the Cup. So I do think that if you look at that move through that specific lens it's maybe not a game changer. For as good of a player as...

    Ranking Prospects 2025-26

Interesting to hear him say that he hopes to get bigger and maybe get to 187-190 lbs. He was listed at 185 lbs at last years training camp (he probably was not 185 lbs).

Interesting tidbit. I'm not really the biggest fan of Boeser, so maybe a bit of a bullet dodged here. Would definitely have rather went after Ehlers, which the Leafs likely did as well but missed out on too.

6 years, $8.5mil AAV. Pretty solid contract. Ehlers there always just seemed to make a ton of sense.

Gio's making an appearance at the sens camp too. He's getting around.

I'm not super opposed to trading Cowan, but yeah that would preferably be to acquire a young top-6 centre as herman said, not a winger. Even though I really do like Konecny. Although I doubt the Flyers have any interest in moving him right now anyway.

If we want to speed up the process 2-4 years and hope for the absolute best case scenario.

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

No lie was literally looking through Kunin's stats to see if he's be a fit here right before I saw this tweet. Wouldn't be the worst 4C option or 4RW if Laughton stays there.

Appleton at $2.9mil would have been a little intriguing but Suter on that deal feels like a downright steal for St. Louis. I fully expected him to be one of most overpaid players this free agency considering the lack of centres but that's maybe the best contract signed so far. He's not a perfect...

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

I would kind of add to all of this by saying that I don't think many/any of the anti-Marner crowd 2 years ago were saying he should be traded because they were worried he was going to make the decision to walk away from the team after his contract was done. Like maybe people started to suspect...

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

Ehlers: Would consider but believe he has better fits elsewhere P. Suter: Maybe an interesting option if his asking price comes down Orlov, Roslovic, Olofsson, Grzelcyk: Not really a fit Burns: If we need to trade Carlo for a legitimately good and fairly priced top-6 forward, could be a solid...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

The Marlies continue to get stronger. The goal for them should be to always have a good team. If that can't happen primarily through prospects then the few young guys there should always be insulated with vets like this and Boyd. As an aside when I googled him this *insanely obviously AI...

Mantha's deal is $2mil plus an additional $250k bonus at every 10 games he plays for a max cap hit of $4.5mil. But even if he plays just 60 games that's still a $4mil cap hit. I liked the guy too but that's a lot more than I figured he'd get.

They'd have to clear a little bit of room but I'm guessing it's Washington. Possibility to play with Ovechkin for a season, and the Caps will need another high end forward once Ovi retires. With all their long-term deals signed I doubt they'd be interested in a rebuild or even retool then.
