There was no rush to get that contract signed, which is what is the biggest issue with it. Should have waited to see how he fit into the lineup before making that kind of commitment. As they say, when you have time, use it.

I suspect both Carlo and Laughton will be better fits next season with a full camp, lots of practice time with the team, etc. Kind of like McCabe a couple years back. It can take time to adjust to a new team, especially when it's the first time you've moved (which is the case for both of them)...

Agreed. His regular season performances have absolutely lived up to his salary. His playoff performances, especially later in the series, leave something to be desired, though.

Other teams get good price performance out of their bottom six paying guys similar to what the Leafs are. The cap excuse is played out and lazy. The guys the Leafs brought in haven’t been good enough. That’s it.
