    Steve Stamkos?

You can't know that right now. Matthews looks as legit as any prospect can, but he could still be more RNH than Toews. Marner and Nylander could be more JvR or Bobby Ryan than Kane. Just because they are drafted high and look promising doesn't guarantee elite players. They could easily become...

    PHIL KESSEL WINS STANLEY CUP

Thanks. It was a dumb comment then and looks far worse now.

    PHIL KESSEL WINS STANLEY CUP

Who was the gm that basically laughed at the pens for trading for Kessel when they could just sign somebody like Semin instead?

    Game of Thrones (S6)

T-1000 was my exact thought watching her go. Almost to the point where I wondered if she was told to emulate Robert Patrick.

    Steve Stamkos?

I don't know if it's as pointless as all that. I used to be about 75% pro Stamkos. Winning the lottery and likely getting Matthews dropped that some but I was still leaning towards yes depending on how outrageous the numbers were. After following this thread (granted rather tediously at times)...

    AllHockey.Ru: Leafs looking at Radulov

This seems to me to likely be coming from his agent rather than the Leafs. You know the old use the Leafs and the ensuing extra media coverage to raise the price routine. Maybe I'm wrong and they really are interested, it just doesn't seem like a fit from where I sit.

    Round 2: Stars (C1) vs. Blues (C2)

As long as St Louis doesn't win. If I'm not mistaken they're the only team other than the Leafs that have been around since '67 and not won. Don't need another wave of Leaf mocking from the non Leaf fans I know.

    Matthews or BUST

And there's your perfect example. I have never cared about basketball or the Raptors. They are winning and doing well and I'm starting to pay a little bit of attention now. If they're a bad team with a highly hyped Toronto boy playing for them? Then I still don't care.

    Matthews or BUST

Winning puts bums in the seats. Gutting the team to get Matthews won't do the Coyotes any good.

    Matthews or BUST

If Arizona is looking to trade up I think they'd be more interested in the #4-5 pick than gutting their team for #1. Getting Tkachuk to go with Dvorak and Domi makes more sense for them.

    Official Armchair GM Thread 2015-2016

I think if Columbus was serious about trading their pick then somebody else offers a better deal than the Leafs could put together. I think if you want to make a trade like that then Calgary is a likelier option. Beyond goaltending I'm not sure what they're after though.

So the debate begins: Matthews vs. Laine

Sure, I'll defer to the guys who make this stuff their life, but when 99% of the hockey world is saying to go with the centre? That takes some serious balls to go the other way. This talk reminds me of lots of other years where right before the draft all of a sudden people are saying maybe...

So the debate begins: Matthews vs. Laine

Nylander or Marner could become a #1, but if you have the chance to get as close to a guarantied one as possible you can't turn it down. Without that guy you run the risk of building the Blues or Bruins. Sure Boston won one, but in five years if you essentially have the Blues with a Taresenko...

So the debate begins: Matthews vs. Laine

If you draft first you take Matthews. The only way I see the Leafs ending up with Laine is if a) Hunter thinks he's at least close to Matthews b) Winnipeg offers up something like #2, Trouba and something else and 3) the Leafs are high on Stamkos and know they can get him on a good contract...

How to know when to stop tanking?

I'm not talking about the team ceasing to continue to add young talent, I'm talking about actively trying to tank for the highest pick possible. Tanking includes a certain amount of sabotage, and as much as we like to talk about how the Leafs have been losing with dignity for the most part this...

How to know when to stop tanking?

This is a bit of a theoretical question that obviously has no one right or wrong answer, but I was thinking about it the other day and wondering what other people's thoughts are. At some point the Leafs will have to stop making the highest draft pick possible their top priority. I'm not saying...

    Winnik traded to Washington

What's the haul up to now, 4 seconds and 2 fourths in the last couple weeks?

    Winnik traded to Washington

I haven't followed Laich the last couple years, but beyond being overpaid he's still a half decent third line player, no? His contact is up next year, just wondering if he'll bring back a second or third round pick next deadline?

Reimer and Morin to Sharks for Stalock, Smith and conditional 4th

I think that you could make a good argument that Calgary is the only other team that might have interest this summer. Maybe Edmonton. One more year of the young guys in the minors is probably a good idea for them, especially if Bernier is the starter next year. After that Bernier is gone and...

    Steve Stamkos?

You really haven't come across as being OK with a Stamkos signing under any reasonable circumstances from what I've read, but if that's your stance I'll take your word on it.
