don't really think i disagreed on that point.  but it all depends on what part of the future you need to see.  which is why i pointed out babcock.  and also it seems like kind of a strange thing to say now ..as if something has changed post this trade.  but phaneuf wasn't part of our magic core...

well of course it doesn't..this is year 1.5 of a rebuild.  this is still the tearing down.  have to demolish the house before you can build a new one.  this all goes back to babcock's "painful" comments when he came here.  hopefully the leafs will start to develop that new core with their first...

i think this season has always been a throwaway.  but at least unlike the last ten or so they were upfront about it.  I think the reason to watch is to see what babcock can do with nothing and watch the start of players like reilly who will hopefully be fantastic when this team gets good.

the problem being it shouldn't be up to the team or the player.  they have an interest in the outcome of the game.  should come from the league.  you can argue some bias there but then that would also call video review into play. 

i know anecdotally he was the reason i watched.  i haven't watched an allstar game in years.
