The easy part is done. Next step: Core overhaul

but see..that's my point ....i'm not arguing what the right path is..i'm arguing that i think the path is more limited then people make it out to be..there are other constraints that people seem to pretend don't exist

The easy part is done. Next step: Core overhaul

you haven't convinced me in the least that there's anything significantly different about how the team is run now then it was before ...and therefore i see the same outcome..right or wrong....

The easy part is done. Next step: Core overhaul

Well if your argument is that people watch the leafs regardless for how many consecutive decades they suck for then the change of ownership is kind of moot.  There was no reason to get rid of JFJ ...or Burke or anyone ever really because quite frankly if fan interest is infinite then we should...

The easy part is done. Next step: Core overhaul

I don't have the quote so take it for what it's worth but I remember Burke saying something along the lines in his justification for the Kessel trade that if the leafs weren't competitive within 4 years he'd be out of a job.  Again I'm paraphrasing here but I think I've carried on the...

The easy part is done. Next step: Core overhaul

both ways are a crapshoot.  like if you want to blow up the team then you're still basically saying..man i hope we get lucky.  Because really let's look at how this has gone.  We've had 3.5? general managers since the Quinn era.  JFJ...fletcher...Burke...Nonis those men put us in the situation...

    Carlyle fired

Okay..but with that eliminated I think we have a rather fuzzy impression of who was treated how.  As you've said the media's job is to continuously sell papers, ergo criticism sells.  I guess now it comes down to our perceptions of all the articles we've read about Sundin and Kessel and if...

    Carlyle fired

but see..that's the thing.  I think when you're talking about legacy you're really talking about the fans not sportswriters.  It's like politicians Bill Clinton was constantly under heavy scrutiny during his two terms as president that pretty much comes with the job of being president.  But as...

    Carlyle fired

not at all..I think it's still within the context of the team.  Sundin came in shortly after Gilmour before Gilmour the leafs had gone through another prolonged crap fest that was most of the 80s.  I think the city was still somewhat living in that glow.  So long out in the wildnerness and now...

    Carlyle fired

I'm not so sure.  Most of the Sundin years were relatively good.  The leafs made the playoffs on a regular basis.  I think that is bound to reduce any form of criticism ..especially from the fan base.  If this team had just made the playoffs for the last four seasons ..I think the halo effect...

    Carlyle fired

well perhaps he'll get a chance to show it.  I just think the optics of not giving the job to an established name are bad in a city that can still remember JFJ as GM  ..the first sign of something going wrong and it's panic ..or perhaps more so

    Carlyle fired

I hope they still make a run for it too.  Seems like a bad sign that they're going with the assistant coaches to run things though...i would have thought if they were still looking to make a decent run at it they'd have had to pick up a head coach

    Leafs @ Hurricanes - Dec. 18th, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

Carolina has lost as many in a row as the leafs have won ...I don't see why either team should upset their respective streaks.

Leafs 2014/2015 Schedule in 10 game chunks

well since right now the leafs are winning every single game ..i don't think anyone thinks that will last forever

Leafs 2014/2015 Schedule in 10 game chunks

I guess I find it hard to believe that Carlyle gives a damn what mirtle writes...and I don't know if I'd want a coach that would be persuaded by simmons and cox et al.  They have guys internally that are hired and fired for just that kind of thing.  So to me mirtle and their like are for the fans.

Leafs 2014/2015 Schedule in 10 game chunks

too late for what? people on message boards taking dumps on the team win or lose don't really effect what the team does

    Ducks @ Leafs - Dec. 16th, 7:30pm - TSN4, Fan 590

and that would have been true the last time we played them too

well..someone's winning streak is going to end

    Oilers fire Eakins

kessel, jvr and bozak ...for edmonton's first round pick...you're that comfortable with who is likely to be drafted second over all?  really?  i get the hype around mcdavid ...but the oiler's pick is still a lottery one..they don't have to get him even if they do end up in last.

    Red Wings @ Leafs - Dec. 13th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

i watched the game between the redwings and panther's last night.  The redwings looked a lot more ..human.  In fact they were only able to score on the powerplay.  I kind of hope the leafs were watching too

Leafs 2014/2015 Schedule in 10 game chunks

well the redwings will want revenge for that one ..but on the other hand they'll also get to be playing their second in back to back nights with their opponent waiting at home...so maybe we can do something with that
