Exactly - Players ebb and flow - that's why 8th is the starting point.  They either flow up or down based on player performance - and based on the minor moves you talked about, 8th (give or take) is where they should have landed at the end, provided that players are at least consistent.  But...

I look as Kadri as sort of an insurance policy for one of the top 2 centre spots in case one of Nylander and Marner are just better at their respective wing spots.  I mean worse case, what if both Marner and Nylander are better wingers than centres...what then?  I think its too early to tell...

That article was annoyingly too long.  But the outcome is good!  Sounds like a playmaker.  So...anyone seen him play?  Is he worth getting excited over?  He was a part of the memorial cup, but i don't think i watched much of any of the Remparts games.

I couldn't agree more on all points.  I think this team will have younger better players who will put there all on the ice.  They will all have defensive responsibilities, and if they don't respect that, they will be gone.  If they don't put in effort, they will be gone.  The last few years...

One of The biggest criticisms of the new regime - lack of experience.  Fixed. We've been asking for years for the Leafs to spend money elsewhere and use their money power in ways that others couldn't - on coaching...on management...on scouting.  Looks like they are trending that way.

Again - I've been away so sorry for the late commentary... I'm actually ok with the return. A top end prospect ("top end" is purposefully undefined) plus a first rounder was all that I wanted, and it seems like its what we got.  I think its a year too late (I wanted Kessel out last off season)...

Sorry for being late to the party...was on vacation the past week and have a lot of Leafs news to catch up on. Love the Marner Pick - welcome to the team.  I was wanting Hanifin, but have zero complaints on Marner.  Hopefully he goes back to junior and perfects the centre position for a year...
