I hope bunting does get paid somewhere. He's been an terrific player for Toronto on a minuscule contract, and deserves a bump. I feel badly for him about how the fanbase narrative has cast him, especially as a local kid.

It may matter, it may not, but Bunting is a better player than some of the guys they're dressing. I think it's a mistake not to have him in the lineup somewhere.

No offense, but drawing any sort of inference about a 4th liner's effectiveness on a relatively low minute 4 game sample regarding what happens immediately after they get off the ice seems incredibly shaky.

It was reduced to a minor penalty on the ice, and wasn't a head hit, and was before the whistle. I think McCann saw the puck go out of play and wasn't expecting the hit, and Makar didn't and continued to take the body. Optics were bad with McCann hurt - Star player offender - no head hit = 1...

If he wants to stay, that is. I can imagine a lot of people in his position with significant options (as rumored) would resent being held at lame duck status all year.
