Like I said, I don't think this is a bad contract for Nylander's purposes either but considering there's more paying for potential with Dubois(Nylander's scoring didn't blossom to PPG until he was Dubois' age) I'd hesitate to say it's a great one for him either.

I don't necessarily agree that it is a bad contract for Nylander's camp but Dubois, in addition to the 63 points in 73 games, does have the youth, size and position that NHL teams tend to value very highly.

Yeah, the problem with guys like Lafrieniere is NHL GMs are so risk averse that even the tiniest possibility of losing a guy who blossoms elsewhere makes them so scared they'll overpay to avoid it. Which means you basically have to offer so much they'd be stupid not to take it.
