Yes to this.  If Matthews demanded a 3-year 15 million/year contract, the leafs wouldn?t wind up a better team by walking away. The contract is slightly better than I expected.

I agree. The context is Crosby and Malkin are getting old. Give them one more shot.  If Karlsson is vastly over, paid in three years, it will just help them tank better. Naturally they will get the next generational talent at that point.

Agreed. I absolutely love Nylander, but would I trade Nylander for Aho?  Yes, 100% of the time for the defense and because he is a center.  On the other hand, would Carolina (or anyone) trade Aho for Nylander?  No.

I have to agree. The guy doing all the cap numbers is the same.  It seems really unlikely they would have signed Domi and then only afterwards realized they needed his cap space.  If the new GM is that dumb, Shanahan should be fired.
