McDavid Extends in Edmonton: 2 years @ 12.5M AAV (!!!!)

Considering they both expire at the end of this year, perhaps that was his caveat. Are there any names coming up at the end of this year? Bobrovsky?

Leafs claim Primeau and Blais off waivers

What am I missing in Sammy Blais? I mean other than the coach knows him, and he saves the team some money, what is he bringing to the table?

McDavid Extends in Edmonton: 2 years @ 12.5M AAV (!!!!)

You have to think this came with some conditions from McDavid. This isn't exactly verbatim, but I assume it goes like this.... "I'm giving you two more years. If you don't go and find a real starting goalie, I'm fkn out. Consider yourself on the clock"

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Knies - Matthews - Maccelli McMann - Tavares - Nylander Joshua - Domi - Robertson Lorentz - Roy - Jarnkrok That's not far off how I would run it. I'd actually Move Roy between Domi and Robertson and Kampf in the middle of Joshua and Lorentz..but what do I know. That said, Roy and Joshua IMO...

Kaprizov resets market with new deal

I think McDavid takes a lower number than expected but shorter term.

Laughton is setting the bar really high. 4 ppg or bust!

Apparently we'll get that scoring from Laughton. So we're set.

Do we really think that Kypreos is being fed his info? *your second point is definitely the case. Kypreos still hasn't recovered from being KO'd 30 years ago.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

What a swing of events. From a team who's bottom 6 is viewed as being weak, to a team that can't find a spot for a player like (a hopefully rebounded) Scott Laughton.

While I agree with all of this, I don't know that you're getting the value out of Laughton that you're hoping for with him on the 4th line. Other than the 900k savings, i'm not 100% sure what the benefit is.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I was going to ask about Laughton. I mean, if we are simply freeing up a line up spot/salary space, is he not the more tradeable, more valuable asset? He's in the final year of his deal. For a rebuilding team he could easily be moved at the deadline for draft picks. For a contender he could also...

Sure, Kypreos has some good stories....but his "hot takes" are mostly worthless.

Respect is a strong word. I'm sure a bunch of people know who he is. I don't know that it goes much further than that.

    2025-26 NHL Thread

That's how I read it. It's not a money decision. He can get that anywhere. It's more about being on a team that is poised to win. Oilers are right there, but year after year, they don't improve in the area needed to get over the hump. The best is going to be when Bowman trades him to the LA...
