    This is already outside the Leafs control. If Matthews wants to walk to free agency there's nothing the Leafs can do. No movement clause. Matthews holds all the cards.

    I really like Knies. He fits a lineup really well. The well-roundedness of Stenberg and entry-level contract is intriguing. I wonder if the Leafs would wait until the draft and move Knies to the Blackhawks if Stenberg drops to the 4th pick.

    The Leafs signed the free agent with the most points last season, highest points per game last season, is also a defencemen, and is a right shot which is arguably their greatest area of need. How anyone can say this isn't a giant win for the Leafs is beyond me.

    I thought Keith was a good player, prototypical power forward. Didn't know much about his personality. Both his sons are good hockey players. I know too much about their personality.
